I may be newer to the community, but since moving to Fort McMurray in 2019, I’ve spent every moment focused on how we can improve our children’s education. The challenges we face won’t be fixed overnight, but I’m committed to doing everything I can to help bridge the gaps while we work toward long-term solutions.
With three kids directly impacted by the issues in our current education system, I’m truly in the thick of it. I’ve experienced nearly every form of education Fort McMurray has to offer — Public, Catholic, and Jr. High at Frank Spragins — and as some of you know, that’s not easy to navigate! I’m the mom who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. Having children with ADHD has given me a unique perspective and shown me where the system falls short and where we can make quick, practical improvements while we wait for new schools and more teachers.
You wouldn’t have seen signs around town and my social media is minimal, that’s intentional. It didn’t feel genuine to who I am. I want you to vote for me, not my marketing. I’ve chosen to run my campaign the same way I run my business: through word of mouth and with heart.
We all want the same things; smaller class sizes, more funding, better resources. Those big changes take time, but our kids can’t wait ten years for new schools. We need to act now with practical, realistic solutions.
If you know me, you know how dedicated I am to my kids and this community. I practically live at the baseball field (I even bought a house close enough to walk!), I’m the rhinestone-covered mom cheering loudest at competitions, and I volunteered at Walter and Gladys Hill so often my kids thought I worked there.
I’m open, honest, unfiltered, and will always stand up for all of our kids. I ask the questions others may be too shy to ask, and I don’t like taking “no” for an answer when it comes to what’s best for our students. Being self-employed allows me the flexibility to be available — for you, your kids, and our community.
I may not have been born and raised here, and I may not have a background in education like some of the other qualified candidates — but that’s exactly why I’m running. We need someone on the board who brings a fresh, real-world perspective — someone who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. I believe that person is me.
Voting is open today until 8:00pm. Vote with intention and with purpose. Our kids deserve it.
