Trout spawning is underway! Today we're spawning our ripe brown and brook trout. The trout spawning will carry on through to December! 🐟🐟🐟

This week we rounded up and said goodbye to our beautiful pond trout as we do after every visitor season. They went off to the wild! These fish along with all other fish we stocked in 2025 will be listed in the annual Saskatchewan Stocked Waters Guide which is typically posted online in late fall. The guide highlights all public waters stocked by species. We will post the guide as soon as it is available. Happy fishing, everyone! 🐟🐟🐟

And that's a wrap for our 2025 visitor season! We are closed until next year. Our focus now turns to an entirely new cycle of fish production beginning with trout. But, we will miss all of our lovely visitors! If you took the time to stop in for a tour over the summer months, thank you! We appreciate all of the interest and enthusiasm around what we do. We certainly enjoy having guests. If you missed out on visiting the Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery this season not to worry- we open again May 1st, 2026. The time will fly! 🐟🐟🐟

Reminder: Our last day open to the public for tours is Sept. 1- Labour Day! You still have one more long weekend to check out our facility before we close to visitors for the winter months. Hours are 9am-noon and 1pm-4pm. Tours are free!

As we near the end of summer, we are saying goodbye to three of our staff! Nydia has been with the Hatchery for a year as a term employee while Brady and Landin joined us as our summer students for the 2025 season. We couldn't have been luckier to work with such kind people. Not only are you all hardworking, but you brought a lot of good energy and laughs to our workplace. You will be missed! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors Nydia, Brady and Landin! Stay in touch! :-D

Hello everyone! We hope you had lovely long weekends. :-)
Fyi: The last day we are open to visitors for the season is Labour Day- Sept 1st! You still have a few more weeks to view our fish and tour our facility if you have not already done so. We will be open every day, including weekends, until then. Hours are below. Come on down, say hi and learn a little bit about Saskatchewan's fish stocking program!

Good morning everyone! FYI: Today's visiting hours at the Hatchery are 9am-11:45am and 2:30pm-4pm. The Fish Hatchery will be closed to visitors from 11:45 to 2:30 pm today for a staff meeting. We apologize for any inconvenience.
