Fort St. John Women's Resource Society

Fort St. John Women's Resource Society In 1981, a group of women in the Fort St. John area organized the original Women's Centre.

We serve low-income families in our community, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or background, with services like second-stage housing, an outreach store, community law and family law advocacy, a Health Team, and more. They were concerned about the lack of resources and choices available to women in the North and the overall absence of an effective method of organizing change f

or women. In the spirit of sisterhood, FSJ women took it upon themselves to fill this gap by creating a place for women to gather and forge a sense of community based support. Over 30 years later, the Women's Resource Society continues in this tradition, providing valuable services and promoting the betterment of all women's lives.

With back-to-school season just around the corner, Bonnie Milligan was thinking about local families and decided to lend a hand. She brought in cereal and pantry items to help stock the Outreach Store shelves.

It’s a great reminder that each of us can make a difference in our community in our own way. Thank you, Bonnie, for putting that into action.

The Community Challenge Starts Now! 📣 Enbridge is challenging local businesses to help fill the shelves at the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society Outreach Store. Can you match or beat their donation?

Our shelves are running low, while back-to-school expenses are putting additional pressure on local families. This donation will help provide essential food and support to women, men, children, and families in our community—but we still need your help to fill the shelves!

A huge thank you to Enbridge, represented here by Derek Readman, for this generous donation, and to True Dicaire, a North Peace Secondary School student who volunteered to help shop, load, and deliver everything!

Enbridge challenges: TC Energy, Pembina Pipeline Corporation, ConocoPhillips, Shell, PETRONAS, Canadian Natural Resources Limited, SureLine Projects Inc., Surerus, and Macro Group

Businesses, schools, sports teams, youth groups, and families can all join in! Organize a food drive, collect a few extra groceries, or make a donation.

Local producers, pipeline companies, contractors, and businesses: Can you match or beat this donation?

Students, schools, sports teams, youth groups, and families: Can you organize a food drive or collect a few extra items on your next grocery trip?

Let's see how many organizations we can get involved in and how quickly we can fill these shelves!

A huge shot out to Fort City Chrysler and Marta Barash for collecting donations on our behalf during their Classic Car Show! 🚘❤️

Thanks to their incredible effort and the generosity of everyone who attended, they collected over $400 and several bags of non-perishable food for the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.

We are so grateful to Fort City Chrysler for continuing to support us, as you always do, and to every person who contributed. Your generosity will help us provide food and essential support to local women, children, and families. 🫶

Back-to-school season is almost here, and is collecting snacks, lunch items, and breakfast foods to help stock the Outreach Store for the families we serve.

Thank you to the Clarke family for bringing in this awesome donation. Carter and Bentley joined their mom to deliver the items and were happy to help carry in the much-needed back-to-school food.

It’s wonderful to see families getting involved and helping support their community. Thank you to FSJ Alliance Church and everyone who is contributing to this food drive.

Community is stronger when local businesses and individuals choose to support the work happening around them. 🫶

This July, Amber Beattie celebrated an incredible milestone—10 years with Browns Restaurant Brand—by donating 100% of the gratuities she personally earned throughout the month of July to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society. Inspired by Amber’s generosity, Browns Crafthouse FSJ matched her donation, bringing the total contribution to more than $2,000!

We were so grateful to have Amber and Danielle Dicus stop by to present this wonderful gift.

Congratulations on 10 amazing years, Amber! Thank you for celebrating this milestone in such a meaningful way and for choosing to support local individuals and families.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Browns Crafthouse FSJ for matching Amber’s generosity, believing in our services, and continuing to give back to our community. Thank you for caring about our community, believing in our work and choosing to give back. Your generosity helps strengthen the services and opportunities available to the people we serve.

Cars, coffee, and community came together for a great cause.

Following their ABeetles, buds and brew gathering, Rudy’s Highway Car & Truck Wash donated the cash, food, and other items collected through the event to our Outreach Store.

These contributions help keep practical supports available for people in our community when they need them.

Thank you to Rudy’s, everyone who attended and donated, and a special thank you to Alissa for stopping by to deliver everything!

Community support makes such a difference! La-Toya at United Rentals Fort St. John reached out to find out what was needed most in the pantry at our Outreach Store. The team collected donations at their office for a week, and then La-Toya and kids delivered the large donation of much-needed items.

They brought in several things we had completely run out of, including coffee, jam, pancake mix, and canned ravioli.

Thank you to La-Toya and everyone at United Rentals for helping us restock our shelves with items our clients need.
