Are you curious about traditional hide tanning?

The Northwest Territory Métis Nation Healing & Wellness Program will be hosting a Traditional Hide Camp in Hay River starting on September 8th, 2026, facilitated by knowledge holder Tasha Cleary. This camp will take place on early afternoons to early evenings during the weekdays, for approximately 2-4 weeks depending on the whether. Flexible hours for those who work during the day and still wish to participate.

The NWT Métis Nation Healing & Wellness Program will be hosting a Full Moon Ceremony at the Castaways Cottages, 6 Lagoon Road, Hay River.

This event will begin at 6:30pm on Thursday, August 27th, 2026.

Everyone is welcome, no registration required. Sharing circle, discuss women’s self care, drumming & singing. Bring a water bottle, ribbon skirt, drum or rattle.

Civic Holiday Office Closures - August Long Weekend

Offices in Fort Smith, Fort Resolution, Hay River and Yellowknife will be closed on the day of Monday, August 3rd, 2026.

Will hold the 2026 Annual General Assemblies in Fort Smith, NT, at the Roaring Rapids Hall from Tuesday, September 15, 2026 to Friday, September 18, 2026 between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm to present the audited financial statements, appointment of auditor, annual reports and Executive Election.

The Northwest Territory Métis Nation Lands & Resources department is looking for 3 members from each community of Hay River, Fort Smith, and Fort Resolution, ages 18+ to participate in camera training for the upcoming Echo's of the land Project.

This program will be held in Fort Smith, NT on Saturday, August 1st, 2026. Travel and Accommodations will be provided.

Come learn about using wildlife camera and bird song recorders in wildlife research and monitoring. You will gain hands-on experience working with equipment.
