Get ready for an evening of incredible skill, comedy, and jaw-dropping stunts as Yuki the Juggler comes to Fort Steele Heritage Town!

Straight from Japan, Yuki brings a high-energy, interactive show combining unbelievable juggling, physical comedy, audience participation, and Edo Daikagura — a traditional Japanese performance style with a history stretching back more than 400 years.

And just when you think you've seen it all... Yuki takes things to another level for a finale you won't want to miss. 😮

🐐 This weekend Fort Steele gets a whole lot more goat-filled!

This Sunday, August 30, more than 70 goats will be arriving at the Fort for a few weeks of grazing and exploring.

Join us at approximately 2:00 PM as we lead the herd into their new pens and welcome our newest temporary residents! It should be quite the sight. 🐐🐐🐐

Come for the goat arrival and stay to explore the Fort — and don’t forget to come back and visit our four-legged guests while they’re here!

🎉 The answer is... an Invalid Cup!

Thank you to everyone who took a guess this week! We always enjoy seeing your ideas and creative answers.

This week's mystery item is an Invalid Cup, a specially designed drinking cup used to help bedridden or recovering patients safely drink liquids. The semi-covered lid helped reduce spills, while the spout made it easier for someone to drink without having to sit upright.

Before modern hospital equipment and adaptive drinking cups, practical items like these made caring for family members at home a little easier. They were commonly used in homes, hospitals, and care facilities during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A new travelling exhibition from the Legacy of Hope Foundation opens today at Fort Steele Heritage Town.

Killing the Indian in the Child: Generations Lost explores the history and ongoing legacy of the Residential School system in Canada. For generations, Indigenous children were taken from their homes and communities and placed in Residential Schools, where they were separated from their families, languages, and cultures.

The impacts of this system continue to affect Survivors, their families, and communities today. Through the exhibition, visitors are invited to learn about this history while recognizing the resilience of Survivors and Indigenous communities who have worked to retain their languages, cultures, teachings, and ways of life.

The exhibition will be on display at Fort Steele Heritage Town from August 28 to September 14 and is included with regular admission.

We invite you to join us tomorrow, Saturday, August 29, from 1:00–3:00 PM, and enjoy iced tea and water, along with samples from the bakery, while you explore the exhibition. The curator will also be on site to answer questions and provide additional insight into the exhibit.

🐐 THE GOATS ARE COMING! 🐐
This Sunday, August 30, more than 70 goats will be arriving at Fort Steele!
Come out and watch as these hungry helpers make their way to their new temporary home at the Fort. We’re planning to lead the goats into their pens at approximately 2:00 PM, and you’re invited to come watch the excitement!
The goats will be joining us for the next few weeks, helping with vegetation management while becoming some pretty adorable temporary residents. 🐐
Come welcome them to Fort Steele on Sunday — and be sure to stop by and visit them while they’re here!

The heart of Fort Steele isn't found in the buildings—it's found in the people who bring them to life.

Every day, our incredible team of heritage interpreters steps into the shoes of those who built this community more than a century ago. Whether they're working the blacksmith's forge, demonstrating traditional leatherworking, sharing stories in the Dress Shop, printing on a historic press, crafting in the Tin Shop, welcoming visitors into the Lambi House, or greeting guests throughout the town, they do so with passion, knowledge, and a genuine love for history.

But what makes them truly special isn't just what they know—it's how they share it.

They answer questions, tell stories, demonstrate long-forgotten skills, and take the time to connect with every visitor. They inspire curiosity in children, spark conversations with adults, and often leave people saying, "I had no idea!" before moving on to the next building.

No two visits to Fort Steele are ever exactly the same because no two conversations are ever the same. Each interpreter brings their own personality, interests, and enthusiasm, creating an experience that's unique every time you visit.
