Open for Business: Echo Training and Occupational Testing
For Kristy West, owner of Echo Training and Occupational Testing, workplace safety is more than a business. It has been her passion for more than 25 years.
Originally from Peers, Alberta, Kristy began her career with the City of Calgary, where she worked as a head lifeguard and Bronze Examiner with the Lifesaving Society. She later completed her paramedic training at the University of Calgary and returned to the Edson area, building extensive experience in municipal ambulance services, fire and rescue operations, and occupational safety.
Kristy went on to operate a similar business in Edson for more than 10 years before moving to Florida with her young family. After taking several years to focus on family, she returned to Alberta and accepted a position near Fox Creek. That opportunity brought her to the community and ultimately inspired her to use her experience, skills and passion for workplace safety to establish a company of her own. As she explored the community, she quickly fell in love with the lakes and trails but, most importantly, the kindness of the people she met here.
Echo Training and Occupational Testing has now been operating in Fox Creek for more than three years now, providing safety training, testing and occupational health services throughout the region.
The company offers a wide range of services, including:
• Workplace safety training and assistance sourcing specialized courses
• Drug and alcohol testing
• Respiratory fit testing
• Occupational health assessments
• Pulmonary function testing
• Audiometric testing and ear-fit checks
• Custom hearing protection
Echo Training is also expanding services to include:
• Gas Clip monitor sales, rentals and repairs
• SCBA rentals, hydrostatic testing and air fills
• Blackline monitor rentals and servicing
• Hytera road and handheld radio sales and rentals
• Starlink rentals
• Fire extinguisher recharging
With locations in Fox Creek and Edson, Echo Training is truly a family business. Kristy’s oldest daughter, Grace, manages the Fox Creek location, while her younger daughter, Paige, assists at the Edson location.
For Kristy, Echo Training represents more than professional success. It is a legacy she is building for her children and an opportunity to support the communities that have supported her.
