Our president Jocelyn Donnelly was able to take part in a roundtable meeting today with Minister Heath MacDonald! She was thankful for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful and productive conversation, and to hear the voices of many commodities and learn so much from them.

03/27/2026

We’re looking ahead to an important conversation for New Brunswick agriculture.

On April 1, we will be meeting with Minister Finnigan alongside industry partners to discuss the proposed phasing out of Provincial veterinary and laboratory services.

These services play a critical role in supporting animal health, food safety, and the long-term sustainability of our sector. This meeting is an opportunity to ensure the voices of producers and industry stakeholders are heard.

We remain committed to advocating for practical, effective solutions that support farmers and protect the future of agriculture in New Brunswick.

You can read the letter we submitted to the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries below.

Statement from the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick (AANB)
Re: Proposed Phase-Out of Provincial Veterinary and Laboratory Services

The Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick is aware of the proposed phase-out of provincial veterinary and laboratory services in New Brunswick and recognizes the significant implications this may have for farmers, producers, and the broader agricultural community across our province.

The AANB is actively engaged in this issue. We are consulting broadly with stakeholders, gathering information, and developing a unified position that reflects the concerns and priorities of New Brunswick's agricultural sector. We have formally requested meetings with the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (DAAF) and look forward to constructive dialogue as this process moves forward.

We believe that collaborative engagement between government and industry is essential to ensuring that any changes to these services are carefully considered and that the needs of our farming community remain at the forefront of decision-making.

Any organizations or associations wishing to consult with the AANB on this matter are encouraged to reach out directly:

πŸ“ž (506) 452-8101

We will continue to provide updates as this situation develops. Thank you for your ongoing support of New Brunswick agriculture.
