Good morning, today marks a significant day as our community comes together to exercise their right to vote, ultimately determining the future direction of our city. As I engaged with residents through door-to-door visits, I was heartened to encounter a profound affection for our community and city. I also had the opportunity to listen to the concerns that weigh heavily on people's minds. It is clear that the paramount challenges facing our city, as expressed by its residents, pertain to community safety, the proliferation of drugs, homelessness, drug addiction, and mental health issues. I am in complete agreement with these concerns and firmly believe that our local government must assume a leadership role and serve as a vocal advocate. Having dedicated four years to addressing these issues, I possess the requisite knowledge and experience to effectively tackle these challenges. I eagerly look forward to earning the trust and support of the residents of Ward 10, allowing me to work tirelessly on their behalf to address these pressing concerns. Furthermore, it is imperative that we also focus on addressing the housing needs of our community, with a particular emphasis on ensuring access to genuinely affordable housing. I was pleased to hear the interview with Rae Tretiak, Executive Director, on CBC this morning, in which he expressed a willingness to engage in discussions. I am encouraged by his remarks and am committed to collaborating with him to find solutions. As a councillor, it is essential that we prioritize this issue from day one and work diligently to bring it to a successful conclusion. I am thrilled to learn that progress is being made towards the development of a new George Street middle school on the exhibition grounds property. I urge everyone to exercise their right to vote today. Thank you, Brent MacPherson, Ward 10, Fredericton. Rae Tretiak
