Some photos become more precious with time. ❤️

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to meet some wonderful people through Glass Treasures, and Leo Boyd was certainly one of them.

Leo sent me this wonderful photo after I had the privilege of creating these two framed plates for him. Along with it came a message that meant a great deal to me:

"Bonnie, you are most welcome and I am in awe of your beautiful work."

Sadly, Leo passed away on July 28, 2026.

Looking at this photo now is a reminder that behind every plate is a person, a story, a career, a friendship, a family, or a piece of history that deserves to be remembered.

Leo was a proud Veteran, and judging by that wonderful smile, I think it’s safe to say these pieces meant something to him. 😊

It was a privilege to have our paths cross and to create something that honoured parts of Leo’s story and service.

Rest in peace, Leo. Thank you for your service, your kindness, and for allowing me to share this wonderful photo. 🇨🇦❤️

🇨🇦 WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

August 19 marked the 84th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid, one of the darkest and most tragic days in Canadian military history.

On August 19, 1942, Canadian troops made up the overwhelming majority of the Allied force that landed at Dieppe, France, as part of Operation Jubilee.

The cost was devastating. Of nearly 5,000 Canadians who took part, more than 900 were killed, nearly 2,000 were taken prisoner, and many more were wounded.

While the anniversary has passed, remembrance does not belong to a single day.

We remember the courage.
We remember the sacrifice.
We remember those who never came home, those who were wounded, and those who endured captivity.

🇨🇦 Heroes, never forgotten.

We will remember them, today and every day. 🥀

🇨🇦 A gift they’ll never forget.

One of the greatest rewards of my work is seeing the reactions of those receiving a personalized tribute.

After presenting this Royal Canadian Regiment tribute plate to several proud RCR Veterans, Michel sent me these words:

“The gentlemen received the plate and they were so happy! Thank you so much for helping make their day.”

Moments like these remind me why I love creating pieces that honour the men and women who have served our country.

This tribute now has a permanent home in their Legion, where it will continue to honour their service for years to come.

I was also honoured to create the official Royal Canadian Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Plate, commissioned by the Legion’s Centennial Committee. Every Legion has its own story, and it is a privilege to help preserve those stories through personalized commemorative artwork.

🇨🇦 Lest We Forget.

🇨🇦⚓ Plate Spotlight | HMCS PROTECTEUR ⚓🇨🇦

Some ships leave such an enduring legacy that their name is carried forward for generations.

HMCS Protecteur is one of those ships.

Commissioned in 1969, HMCS Protecteur served the Royal Canadian Navy with distinction for more than four decades. As an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship, she delivered fuel, food, ammunition, spare parts, medical support, and countless other essentials that enabled Canadian and allied warships to remain on operations around the world. Although rarely in the spotlight herself, Protecteur played a vital role in the success of every mission she supported.

That proud legacy continues today.

Canada's future HMCS Protecteur, the lead ship of the new Protecteur-class Joint Support Ships, is now in the final stages of construction. Sea trials are expected to begin this fall, with delivery to the Royal Canadian Navy planned for 2027. Once in service, she will restore Canada's at-sea replenishment capability while supporting humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and naval operations for decades to come.

Creating commemorative pieces like this is always a privilege. Every personalized Glass Treasure is designed to celebrate service, preserve history, and honour the people whose dedication has helped shape Canada's naval heritage. 🇨🇦

If you're looking for a unique way to recognize a serving member, Veteran, retirement, Change of Command, or another special milestone, I'd be honoured to help create something that will be proudly displayed for years to come.

🇨🇦⚓ Plate Spotlight | HMCS VILLE DE QUÉBEC ⚓🇨🇦

Some ships represent far more than steel and machinery. They represent the professionalism, dedication, and readiness of the Canadians who serve aboard them.

HMCS Ville de Québec, a Halifax-class frigate of the Royal Canadian Navy, has proudly represented Canada around the world for more than three decades. Designed for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, she has participated in numerous international operations, humanitarian missions, and exercises alongside allied navies.

Her story continues today.

Just last week, HMCS Ville de Québec departed Halifax to join Operation REASSURANCE, Canada's largest ongoing overseas military operation. Over the coming months, she will sail with NATO's Standing Maritime Group One in the North Atlantic, North Sea, and Baltic Sea, helping protect vital maritime routes while strengthening collective defence alongside our allies.

Creating commemorative pieces like this is always a privilege. Every personalized Glass Treasure is designed to celebrate service, preserve history, and honour the remarkable people who proudly wear Canada's uniform. 🇨🇦

If you're looking for a unique way to recognize a serving member, Veteran, retirement, Change of Command, promotion, or another special milestone, I'd be delighted to help create a keepsake that will be proudly displayed for years to come.

Cheers,

🇨🇦 Today marks a century of service. 🇨🇦

Happy 100th Anniversary to The Royal Canadian Legion.

For 100 years, Legion branches across Canada have stood beside Veterans, serving military members, RCMP members, their families, and communities with compassion, friendship, remembrance, and unwavering support.

It was an incredible honour to be commissioned to create the official Royal Canadian Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Plate, a project that celebrates this remarkable milestone and the generations of Canadians whose service and sacrifice helped shape our nation.

Every poppy worn, every parade attended, every name remembered, and every act of support offered through the Legion helps ensure that the stories of those who served are never forgotten.

Today, I join Canadians from coast to coast to coast in celebrating this extraordinary organization and the countless volunteers who have dedicated themselves to keeping remembrance alive for future generations.

Congratulations to The Royal Canadian Legion on reaching this historic milestone.

Lest We Forget.

🇨🇦❤️

The Royal Canadian Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Plate is available as both a commemorative edition and a personalized presentation piece. A portion of every plate sold is directed to The Royal Canadian Legion.

HAPPY PACHINO DAY! 🇮🇹🇨🇦

Today marks the anniversary of Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily on July 10, 1943.

For Canadians, the landings at Pachino marked the beginning of our Army's campaign in Sicily, where thousands of brave soldiers faced their first major combat in the Italian Campaign. Over the weeks that followed, Canadian troops fought with determination through difficult terrain and fierce opposition, earning a respected place in our nation's military history.

Today's reel pays tribute to many of the Canadian regiments whose members served with courage during this campaign. As each regimental badge appears, may it remind us of the men and women who answered the call to serve, and of the families who carried the burden of their sacrifice.

To all who have served, and to those who continue to serve today, thank you.

We Will Remember. 🇨🇦

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those who helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

🇨🇦 July 1, A Day of Celebration and Remembrance 🌺

As Canada Day comes to a close, I'd like to pause and reflect on another important part of July 1.

While Canadians celebrated our country from coast to coast, July 1 is also Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador, commemorating the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel in 1916.

On that morning, during the Battle of the Somme, the 1st Newfoundland Regiment suffered devastating losses. Within the first half hour of the attack, nearly the entire regiment became casualties. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty remain among the most significant chapters in our nation's military heritage.

The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Badge Plate shown here is my small way of paying tribute to their memory and to all who have served Canada with honour. Every time I create a military tribute, I am reminded that behind every badge is a story of service, commitment, and sacrifice.

Today, I give thanks for the men and women who have worn Canada's uniform, those who continue to serve, and the families who have stood beside them through every challenge.

May we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, while never forgetting those who helped secure them.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

Happy Canada Day, Canada. 🇨🇦❤️
