🇨🇦 A Century of Service. A Keepsake to Remember.

As The Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its historic 100th Anniversary, this specially commissioned commemorative plate offers a lasting way to honour a century of service, remembrance and dedication to Veterans, their families and communities across Canada.

During the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Convention in Winnipeg, Berkley Lawrence, CD, Dominion President during the Legion’s Centennial year, received his commemorative plate.

Berkley later shared these wonderful words:

“I was very proud to receive the gift of the 100th Anniversary Plate from Bonnie Saunders. I was very impressed with her thoughtful design which will always remind me of my term as the Dominion President of the Royal Canadian Legion during the 100th Anniversary year. I think the plate is a beautiful item and would make a great gift for any legion branch to present to their members or for any special occasion. I urge all legion members to view her webpage to see the plate.

Thank you Bonnie for this special keepsake.”

Testimonial Spotlight 🌟

Dee Kendall recently sent me this photo from their Change of Command ceremony, along with these wonderful words:

“After all the plates that I have gifted to former members of 704 Sqn, I finally have my own.
It’s lovely and I was very surprised to receive it.
You’ve done another great job.
A big thanks to my staff and you for this beautiful gift.”

There’s something especially nice about this one. Dee has previously been on the giving side, choosing my work to recognize former members of 704 Squadron. This time, her staff turned the tables and surprised her with one of her own. ❤️

It’s such a privilege to see my Glass Treasures become part of occasions like Change of Command ceremonies and other moments that recognize service, leadership and dedication.

Thank you, Dee, for sharing this photo with me, and most importantly, thank you for your service. 🇨🇦

As Cadet squadrons and corps across Canada recognize retiring members, leaders, volunteers and others who have made a difference, I would be honoured to help create a personalized commemorative piece for those special presentations.

I’m also especially proud that my business, Glass Treasures by Bonnie Saunders, is Canadian, and that the commemorative pieces I create are made right here in Canada. 🇨🇦

🇨🇦 On this day, 72 years ago…

On October 1, 1954, The Essex Scottish and The Kent Regiment were amalgamated to become The Essex and Kent Scottish.
Today, I’m honoured to recognize all those who have served under this proud name.

As Glass Treasures by Bonnie Saunders celebrates 25 years in business, I’m proud to continue creating commemorative pieces honouring Canadian military service and tradition. 🇨🇦

🍁 25 YEARS • LOOKING BACK

And so the journey begins...

As I celebrate 25 years in business as Glass Treasures by Bonnie Saunders, I thought it would be fun to bring you along as I look back at where it all started, how my work evolved, and some of the people, opportunities and milestones that became part of the story along the way.

And where better to begin than with the plate that started it all. 🍐

The Pears Plate was my very first plate, featuring my own coloured-pencil drawing. At the time, I had absolutely no idea where that first creation would lead.

From there came more of my own drawings: Canadian wildlife, flowers and other subjects that found their way onto some of my early Glass Treasures.

Over time, what began with that Pears Plate continued to grow and evolve into Glass Treasures by Bonnie Saunders, eventually opening doors to official approvals, commemorative projects and opportunities I certainly couldn't have imagined 25 years ago.

Over the coming weeks and months, I'm going to open up the archives and bring you along: early creations, old photos, my little studio, the evolution of my work, first approvals, memorable presentations, wonderful recipients, major commemorative projects... and probably a few things I've nearly forgotten myself! 😊

Some of these photos and videos go back a long way, so don't expect today's picture quality. That's part of the fun. They're little pieces of the journey.

Twenty-five years of growth and commitment. And this is where the story begins. 🍁

Thank you for coming along with me.

🇨🇦 Congratulations to the Ottawa Police Service!

I was pleased to receive this photo from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), along with their announcement of the 2026 CACP International Policing Award.

Detective Akiva Geller and Forensic Officer John Webster of the Ottawa Police Service were recognized for their work on Project Roaring Lion, the remarkable international investigation that resulted in the recovery of the stolen Winston Churchill portrait by renowned Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh.

It is such an honour to see a Glass Treasures by Bonnie Saunders piece being presented as part of this recognition. 🇨🇦

And as I celebrate 25 years in business this year, moments like this give me another reason to look back with pride at where Glass Treasures has travelled over those years and the people and organizations my work has had the privilege of recognizing.

Congratulations to Detective Geller, Forensic Officer Webster, and everyone involved in this remarkable investigation.

Proudly Canadian made. Proud to support those who protect us. 🇨🇦

🇨🇦 “They are both in places of honour.”

There’s something especially rewarding about receiving a message like this after a Glass Treasures plate arrives.

Tom Brown recently received his custom plate and kindly shared these photos with me, along with these wonderful words:

“I unexpectedly received my plate today! It’s wonderful, beautiful! Thank you so much! They are both in places of honour. 🇨🇦😊🇨🇦”

Seeing one of my pieces displayed alongside photographs and memorabilia that hold such personal significance is always very special.

Thank you, Tom, for taking the time to send the photos and for allowing me to be a small part of honouring your connection to Canada’s military heritage.
