Gagetown Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects the communities of Gagetown, Queenstown and Hampstead. We operate out of 1 main station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status, 24/7-365 days a year. Our department currently has 18 active members. Es

Today we celebrated our annual Summer Family Appreciation BBQ, recognizing our firefighters and the families who support them. ❤️‍🔥

A very special moment was recognizing Chief McNally for 35 years of service. He was presented with his Provincial 35-Year Service Award and 35-Year Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association Municipal Long Service Award, presented by Mayor Stoney and Councillor Luszcz.

But the most meaningful part of the day was a special written tributes from our members. Every firefighter took the time to write a personal message about what Chief McNally’s leadership means to them and the impact he has had on their roles and lives. It was truly a heartfelt and emotional tribute to a man who has given 35 years to this department and community.

35 years of answering the call — from firefighter, to Captain, to Deputy Chief, and now Fire Chief. Through every role, he has led by example, teaching, supporting, encouraging, and believing in the firefighters he serves alongside.

Congratulations, Chief, on 35 years of service. We are incredibly proud to call you our Chief. 🚒❤️

And to our families — thank you for every sacrifice and for always supporting the call to serve. You are a huge part of our fire department family.

🚒 Training Night ❤️‍🩹

Tonight we put our CPR and AED skills to work with three different scenarios:

🏠 A patient in cardiac arrest at home
🔥 A firefighter who collapsed after being exposed to a fire
🚿 An 8-year-old who collapsed in the shower

We started the night by working in teams and progressed by starting with compression-only CPR, then adding rescue breaths using a BVM, and finally incorporating the AED. We also practiced using oropharyngeal airways (OPAs) as part of our airway management.

Working up to the final scenarios challenged our members to assess the situation, communicate, and work together under pressure.

You never know what will be waiting when those tones goes off. Training like this helps us be ready when our community needs us most. ❤️‍🩹🚒

🚒 September is Firefighter Appreciation Month!

This month, we recognize our 19 dedicated Gagetown volunteer firefighters who give countless hours to training, calls, truck checks, fundraising and serving our community.

Over the past 12 months, Gagetown Fire Department has been fortunate to receive some much-needed upgrades and repairs to our hall facility.

We’d like to take a moment to recognize and thank the businesses who helped make these improvements possible:

* Greenfoot Energy — installation of a new heat pump in our training room
* Yes Roofing — replacement of our roof
* S&K Electric — new doors and windows in our training room area, as well as new illuminated exit signs throughout
* Alden’s Door and Windows — installation of safety door openers with sensors on our bay doors to help protect our firefighters and fleet
* Steve Hachey (member) - Shelving and painted floor lines/bumpers

These upgrades not only improve our facility, but more importantly, help provide a safer and more functional space for our firefighters and equipment.

A sincere thank you to our municipality for supporting the department and allowing us to complete these necessary repairs and improvements.

And to the persons who contributed their time and expertise — thank you!! ❤️
