Our summer seasonal exhibit for 2026, Cipher/Decipher, an interactive exhibit where you can discover the fascinating worlds of cryptology and cybersecurity is almost gone! Only 2 weeks remain to check it out. The photo featured above includes an intercom telephone and telegraph keys. The photo below showcases our very popular enigma machine, which helped the allies win WW2.

Come by the 1000 Islands History Museum before September 7th to see if you have what it takes to work in cryptology by making your own secret messages and solving logic puzzles.

We're heading to Interpretation Canada 2026! 🎉

We're excited to share that we will be participating in the 2026 Interpretation Canada National Conference, happening September 14–17 in Kingston.

This year's theme, “Engaging Place, Shaping Futures,” is all about exploring how the places we interpret shape the stories we tell—and how interpretation can help shape the future.

We're proud to be bringing the 1000 Islands into that conversation.

As part of the conference, we'll be:
🎙️ Presenting a 30-minute session focused on our walking tour
🏛️ Welcoming conference attendees for a 2-hour offsite experience
🌊 Sharing how we connect people with the places, stories and history of the 1000 Islands

📍 Rockport Barn, 28 Old River Rd, Mallorytown

🚗 Parking: Onsite parking available with a short walk to the barn. Signage will guide you the night of the event.

👗 What to wear: Summer chic! Comfortable footwear recommended for grass and uneven terrain, plus a light layer for the evening breeze.

🎟️ Entry: No ticket needed. Just give your name at check-in, we've got you on the guest list!

🌦️ Weather: Rain or shine, so dress accordingly.
