Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization made up of businesses, professionals, community groups, and interested individuals.

"To promote and improve the economic climate of the area, to support the needs and concerns of the business community and to enhance the civic and social well being of the community." Originally founded in 1959 to encourage new industries to provide employment for our citizens. Today we currently have over 300 members. It acts as a unified voice for business, enabling its membership to accomplish collectively what no one person can easily do individually. The Chamber is a vehicle for action through which businesses can work together for the overall good of the communities we serve. The Chamber is involved at all levels of government and your support means the Chamber can lobby municipal, provincial, and federal government. We seek solutions to today’s social and economic problems and then we work towards the implementation of these solutions.

Announcing our Keynote Speaker for this year's Central Business Connections Conference. Marilyn Kelloway brings more than 16 years of experience with Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., leading continuous improvement and training and development at the Horizon and Albian mine sites in Fort McMurray. Her background also includes municipal leadership and entrepreneurship as co-owner of Back Country Cottages in Central Newfoundland.

Holding a Master of Arts degree in Leadership through Royal Roads University, Marilyn combines leadership insight with practical improvement methods to help people turn goals into action and sustain meaningful change.

Monica Murias Cato is our second presenter for the Equiforce Workshop at Central business Connections. She is a bilingual educator and workforce development professional with over 16 years of experience designing inclusive learning experiences. She has worked with companies across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. She currently serves as Lead, Training and Facilitation at Equiforce, where she designs equity-centred learning experiences that foster belonging and improve access across diverse workplaces.

Holiday Closure!

Please be advised that the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce office will be closed on Monday, October 12th in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce that registration is now open for our annual business conference, Central Business Connections. This event will take place on October 21 at the Gander International Airport from 9:00 AM - 4:15 PM. This conference will feature speakers from groups like Doane Grant Thornton, econext, Equiforce, RBC, NLOWE, and more.
Registration for this event is free, but seating is limited. Register today to guarantee your spot at the conference.

We will also be hosting a free keynote luncheon catered by Volare Hospitality at the airport from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. All conference attendees are automatically registered to take part in the luncheon, with additional seating available for those who would like to take part. Luncheon attendees are also welcome to attend the Equiforce workshop which will run from 1:00 - 2:30 at the international lounge.

The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce will be closed on September 30 for the observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We will re-open on October 1st at 9:00 a.m. to resume our regular hours.

Last but not least, we wanted to announce the nominees for the namesake Joe and Clarice Goodyear Business Achievement Award. This award is presented to a family business in the Gander Area that reflects outstanding business achievement and dedication to the area, including active involvement in business and or professional associations. To be eligible for this award, nominees must operate in the Gander Area and have been in business for at least three years.

Tickets are still available for the awards showcase. Members of the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce can purchase tickets for $75, while non-members can purchase tickets for $85. The showcase will be held at 146 Airport Blvd, the Gander Curling Club, on Thursday, October 1. Doors will open at 6:30 pm, with food served at 7:00 pm.
