AI is at the centre of a transforming technological world – changing how people live and work, how businesses compete, and how countries protect their sovereignty.

Today, to ensure that AI is adopted responsibly, in a way that truly serves all Canadians, Prime Minister Carney launched AI for All, Canada’s new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

Over the next five years, this strategy will introduce new legislation, investments, and programs to help build trust, expand opportunities, and reinforce control of Canada’s sovereignty.

🎉 We just launched the 2026–27 call for proposals for community-based projects through the New Horizons for Seniors Program. If your organization supports older Canadians, you can now apply for funding!

- doubling the maximum grant amount to $50,000 per project
- establishing a new assessment criterion to encourage applications from organizations with a mandate or mission primarily focused on seniors
- requiring a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number
- encouraging use of the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) portal for applications

The Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs Society (BGSS) (Silver Springs Botanical Gardens), a 2024 Canada’s Volunteer Awards Community Leader, has turned a once-empty Calgary space into a vibrant hub with 20+ unique gardens. With 100 volunteers, BGSS offers programs, tours, and partnerships that bring people together through nature.

Happy National AccessAbility Week!

In 1972, Roland Galarneau, a legally blind electrical from Gatineau, developed the Converto-Braille prototype, the first computerized system capable of transcribing text into braille.

Throughout his career, he continued refining his inventions and secured multiple for these technologies, helping improve accessibility for people with visual impairments.
