At the end of September, 31 young Canadians took the global stage at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, showcasing their skills and competing alongside talented young people from around the world.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we recognize the importance of advancing Indigenous-led approaches to early learning and child care.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action 12 calls for culturally appropriate early childhood education programs for Indigenous families. In response, the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework was co-developed with First Nations, Inuit and Métis partners and endorsed in 2018 to support Indigenous-led approaches that reflect the unique cultures, strengths, and priorities of Indigenous communities.
