Tree Swallows are now moving into the many nesting boxes around the property, apparently well ahead of our Eastern Bluebirds who compete for the same housing! White stands of trilliums are also popping up in many areas of the woods The less common yellow, pink, and maroon varieties can also be found with a sharp eye. Admire, and photograph..........but please Do Not Pick! Our volunteers at the Bruce Trail Conservancy are also keeping busy maintaining the trails, and along the way doing magnificent bridge rebuilds! A big thank you to Neal, Peter, and the rest of the volunteers for their trail support.
Thanks also to Laura and Wayne who have begun their volunteer "Spring Tune Up" efforts around the Bennett House ............ very much appreciated!
I am positive the majority of our visitors appreciate the behind the scenes volunteer efforts that go on, along with our friends at Ontario Heritage Trust who fully support us as well.
Sadly, the visitors who throw their garbage, and "doggy do" bags by the wayside, maybe not so much?
As we move into May visitors will also notice increased activity with film crews. There will now be a production crew on site May 20-21 filming around the pond, and using the main barn buildings. Then, as we have already stated, another major production begins set up June 1, with a planned stay of 3 weeks.
During these times, please follow the posted signs, and keep your pets on leash.
Scotsdale Heritage Farm with 531 acres to explore is a very special place, to be enjoyed, respected, and cared for by us all! After all, this is what Violet and Stewart Bennett desired when they bequested their property to Ontario Heritage Trust in 1982.
A special thank you to all of our supporters too!
