Bus Service Update: Halfmoon Bay, Madeira Park, Pender Harbour, Chatelech Secondary

Due to a power line across Highway 101 near Redrooffs Road, bus service is disrupted this morning for routes that travel from Sechelt through the affected section of highway to serve Halfmoon Bay, Madeira Park, Pender Harbour, and Chatelech Secondary.

Students who have already been picked up on affected routes are being returned to their designated bus stops. No elementary student will be left unattended at a bus stop.

The exception is Bus #5493, which was able to travel through the area before the highway was affected and will continue its route as scheduled.

All schools remain open.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Staff appreciation has been felt across the Sunshine Coast this year, thanks to the incredible support of PACs and community partners. ❤️

From Kinnikinnick's delicious appreciation lunch provided by CTI Catering to Langdale Elementary's PAC raising the bar for staff care with a week full of tasty treats and specialty bars, these thoughtful gestures mean so much.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who takes the time to recognize and celebrate the dedicated staff who support students every day.

Sunshine Coast schools are proudly celebrating Pride Month by raising Pride flags at schools and district sites across the district.

These visible displays of support help foster welcoming, inclusive environments where students, staff, and families know they belong. Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, recognize the importance of acceptance and respect, and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

Together, we continue to build school communities where all members can learn, work, and thrive as their authentic selves.

June is National Indigenous History Month, and June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day 🧡

This month offers an opportunity to learn more about and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, perspectives, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. It is also a time to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and consider how we can each support reconciliation through learning, respect, and meaningful action.

On the Sunshine Coast, we look forward to local celebrations, including the annual syiyaya Days. Together, we continue to listen, learn, and build relationships grounded in respect and understanding.
