Sunday is International Women’s Day, we recognize and celebrate the incredible women of the Gibsons and District Volunteer Fire Department.

We honor the women who came before us, those who pushed boundaries, challenged expectations, and paved the way for others to follow. Their courage and determination opened doors that may have seemed impossible.

We also celebrate the women standing beside us today, continuing to do the hard work, showing up with strength, dedication, and heart. Every call answered, every barrier challenged helps move the fire service forward.

Progress has been made, and today we celebrate that progress. We also must recognize that there is still work to do. Together, we continue striving for a fire service where everyone belongs and where opportunity has no limits.

Conditions are dry, and the risk of fire is heightened. Please take extra care when engaging in any activity that has the potential to spark a fire.

In the event of a fire, call 9-1-1.
To report irresponsible behaviour that could start a wildfire, call 1-800-663-5555 or (*5555 from a cell phone) as soon as possible.

Information from the public is crucial to the effectiveness of the response.
