The fire ban for Mattagami First Nation will be lifted at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026 (one minute after midnight tonight).

Protect your animals by giving them plenty of fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest. Limit outdoor time, and watch closely for signs of heat stress.

Stay Hydrated During Extreme Heat

Protect yourself from Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day. Keep cool, avoid peak‑hour sun, and watch for signs of heat‑related illness.

Check on Elders, Children, and Pets.
Make sure they have cold water, a cool place to rest, and monitor them closely for any symptoms of heat stress.

➡️ Burnt dinner a few months ago and heard the alarm sound? That’s not enough. Press the ‘test’ button every month to make sure they’re working.
➡️ Already have an alarm on the main floor of your home? You need a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas.

No excuses, because only working smoke alarms can save lives.

Having working smoke alarms where required isn’t just smart - it’s the law.

After successful suppression efforts by our fire management personnel and significant rainfall, Timmins 9 is now listed as Under Control. Bucketing helicopters have continued to support thirteen ground crews as they patrol and action hot spots within the perimeter. Heavy equipment teams and our Incident Management Team have now wrapped up their operations, while crews continue working on the fire.
