George C. Harris House and Mariners' Memorial Garden

George C. Harris House and Mariners' Memorial Garden Welcome to the George C. Harris House and Mariners' Memorial Garden page. Located at the heart of Grand Bank's historic downtown, the George C.

Join us as we explore the historical significance of the house and pay tribute to the memory of those lost at sea. Harris House is a museum of local history. This beautiful Queen Anne style home was built in 1908 by vessel owner and captain Samuel Harris for his son, George. The Grand Bank Heritage Society now operates the restored home as a local landmark, and they are dedicated to preserving it

as an exhibit for a community whose prosperity has always been linked to the sea. The Mariners' Memorial Garden was built on the grounds of the Harris House to honor the memory of those lost at sea and to pay tribute to the strength of those who were left behind to mourn.
