Potatoes New Brunswick Potatoes New Brunswick is a producer-driven organization. Potatoes New Brunswick has many very active committees, which provide support and advice to the board.

We work in close collaboration with industry partners to enhance the value of the New Brunswick potato. Most of the members of these committees are growers who are not board members. We also have committees which include federal and provincial government experts and researchers. The potato industry alone, through primary, secondary and induced activities (the “potato cluster”) generates about $1.3 billion dollars for New Brunswick’s economy every year.

🌱 From plantlets to next year’s elite seed potatoes! 🥔

The team at Bon Accord Elite Seed Farm helped give this year’s plantlet seed potatoes their final send-off! After leaving the greenhouse, the potatoes were shaken out of their bins, bagged, and placed into storage, where they’ll be kept safe and sound until they’re ready to help produce next year’s elite seed crop.

A big thank you to the Bon Accord team for their hard work in helping grow the next generation of New Brunswick seed potatoes! 🌱🥔

🚜🥔 Keep Our Fields Clean!

A reminder that every piece of garbage thrown into a field can risk contaminating food, damaging equipment, and potentially wasting an entire harvest load.

Think before you toss it.
Take it with you.

Let’s work together to keep our fields clean, our food safe, and our farms running smoothly.

Today, September 30, we pause to remember the children who never returned home, honour Residential School Survivors, and recognize the lasting impacts of the residential school system on First Nations, families and communities.

Truth and reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn and reflect on Canada’s history, while supporting a future built on understanding, respect and meaningful action.

We wear orange today in recognition of Every Child Matters and in honour of Survivors and their families.

//

🥔 Tater Time Capsule

Before modern harvesters and bulk storage, getting potatoes from the field to the farm meant plenty of hard work, old tractors, and plenty of potato barrels.

These historic photos offer a glimpse into the tools, equipment and traditions that shaped New Brunswick’s potato industry — and how much harvest has changed over the years.

Some things may have changed, but one thing remains the same: it all starts in the field. 🌱
