Swallowtail Re-Opening Celebration

Mayor Bonnie Morse
Bonnie was a passionate advocate for restoring Swallowtail Lighthouse from the onset and was a encouraging spokesperson to many organizations throughout the project. She was key team player in the successful completion of the restoration, obtaining funding from various sources throughout the campaign. Bonnie conveyed to many how important Swallowtail is to the cultural life of the island and how the exhibits within the tower showcase the lives of Grand Manan folks of the past. Now Swallowtail stands strong for future generations to enjoy due to her support and efforts. Job well done.

Thank you for your devotion to serving the people of Grand Manan and always going above and beyond in your duties as Mayor.

Swallowtail Re-opening Celebration
Vicki Hogarth and the crew of CHCO-TV have been the #1 cheerleaders of the restoration project and took on the challenge of hosting a live telethon in April 2023 with the astounding outcome of over $50,000 raised. Their continuous coverage as the project encountered increased costs, was essential in achieving the final goal of over $600,000. Live streaming of the re-opening celebration, co-hosted by Vicki, was shown on their channel.

Susan Holt - NB Liberal Party Leader and MLA for East Nepisiquit-
Saint Isidore, brought greetings from the province and praised her colleague in the Legislature, Andrea Anderson-Mason, for her commitment to this project and for serving her riding constituency so well. Congratulations were given to all those who worked on this successful project and commented on the outpouring of strong community support. Swallowtail Lighthouse is an iconic New Brunswick treasure, now able to be shared by all for years to come.
