What if the care you show today… could last for generations?

Legacy giving is one of the most powerful ways to make that happen.

It’s not about wealth.
It’s about intention.

A simple decision can help ensure that families in our community continue to have access to healthy food, compassion, and dignity for years to come.

At the Orangeville Food Bank?Dufferin Food Share Grand Valley, this is how we continue building a well nourished community.

There are many ways to leave a legacy.
Each one is a chance to turn today’s kindness into tomorrow’s stability.

Your legacy has the power to create lasting change.

And here’s the part that nobody really loves to talk about…

When someone leaves a gift to a registered charity (like the Orangeville Food Bank/Dufferin Food Share Grad Valley) in their will, that gift generates a charitable tax receipt on their final tax return.

And that matters.

In the year of death, charitable donations can be claimed up to 100% of income (instead of the usual 75%), and any unused portion can be applied to the previous year. This can help reduce the taxes owed by the estate.

💡 What this often means in real life:

A portion of what would have gone to taxes can instead go to a cause someone cares deeply about. Who would you rather give your money to?

For example, if an estate includes assets like RRSPs, RRIFs, or capital gains, there can be a significant tax bill. A charitable gift can help offset some of that cost, sometimes saving thousands of dollars.

There are a few common ways people choose to do this:
• Leaving a specific amount or percentage in a will
• Naming a charity as a beneficiary of an RRSP or RRIF
• Donating securities, either during their lifetime or through their estate

We encourage anyone considering this to speak with a financial advisor or lawyer to find what works best for their situation. But if you have any questions on what to do next, give Carrie-Anne a call at 226-558-2109

🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Let’s be real… where would we bee without them? 🍯😉

No bees = no pollination
No pollination = no food
No food = no snacks… and we simply cannot have that 😄

These tiny little workers do some seriously big jobs—helping grow so much of the food we rely on every day.

So today, we’re giving a big shoutout to the bees for keeping our plates (and our community) full 💛
