Last week, students tried Black Bean brownies as our school-wide taste test.
Black Beans, also known as Black Turtle Beans, are a legume with a black skin and beige interior. They can be found in all grocery stores either canned or dried. Black beans are an inexpensive source of fibre and protein, which make them the perfect addition to any meal, even dessert!
Thank you to our School Health Facilitator for preparing the brownies and conducting the taste test for the whole school.

For the past 7 weeks, Mrs. Zadderey’s Grade 8 students have explored Japan through research, strategy, and friendly competition. Using the game Risk, they battled for territory while working to build the happiest nation. A great blend of learning, teamwork, and fun!

This week, students tried Plantain and Banana as our school-wide taste test.
Plantains and bananas are both part of the same plant family and are rich in potassium, vitamin C and fibre. Bananas are usually eaten raw and have a soft, sweet texture, while plantains are starchier and are often cooked by baking, frying or boiling before eating. Plantains can be enjoyed as chips, fries or mashed, making them a popular ingredient in many dishes around the world.
Thank you to Superstore for donating the bananas and plantains and to our School Health Facilitator for preparing the taste test.
