On May 14, 2017 @ noon to 4 pm the Federal and Provincial Green Party will be sponsoring an event in Muskoseepe Park titled
Mother Earth on Mother's Day.
The provincial leader, Janet Keeping will be here to speak on behalf of the green party of alberta. There will be live entertainment as well. Unfortunately Elizabeth May is unable to attend due to prior engagements.
We will be serving hot dogs and burgers and a bottle of water.
We invite each of you who are a small business to make a poster or banner to be hung up at this event.

From the desk of Elizabeth May

Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of the year, I want to share with you my thoughts on the election that has just passed.

It is unfortunate we did not win more seats despite our excellent candidates and strong campaign. This became an election about getting rid of Stephen Harper rather than about the issues or who was the best representative. But our message was not lost – knocking on doors from Fredericton to Guelph to Vancouver Island, I heard again and again that Canadians believe in and respect our party. So many who felt that they couldn’t vote for us at this time said to me, “next time, I will vote Green.”

That being said, I am optimistic about our future.

We can savour the fact that the Stephen Harper era is finally over. We can be hopeful that the new government will finally fix our broken first-past-the-post electoral system – as they promised to do. We can feel good about the fact that the total number of Canadians who voted Green actually grew since 2011. And, on a personal note, I can be thankful that the voters of Saanich—Gulf Islands rewarded my hard work and commitment by re-electing me with over half of the vote.

From my own re-election, to the growth in support for our party all across the country, it is clear Canadians value the voice of the Green Party in parliament. We will reward the trust Canadians have placed in our party by ensuring we remain the conscience of the nation on everything from trade deals, to democratic reform, to climate change.
