Greater Sudbury Hydro is advising customers of a planned power outage in parts of Sturgeon Falls on Sunday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Approximately 1,700 Greater Sudbury Hydro customers in parts of Sturgeon Falls will be without power while Hydro One completes essential work.

Not all properties in the area will be affected. The outage follows electrical connections rather than neighbourhood boundaries.

Greater Sudbury Utilities (GSU) has received new reports of suspicious calls targeting local residents.

Customers have reported receiving repeated calls from individuals claiming to be from an “Electricity Efficiency” office or calling about issues with their electricity meter or service in the area. In some cases, callers are attempting to book an in-home appointment.

These calls are not from Greater Sudbury Utilities.
Please be cautious if you receive an unsolicited call about your meter, electricity service, energy efficiency programs, rebates, or an appointment at your home.
If someone claims to be calling on behalf of GSU and you are unsure whether the call is legitimate:
• Do not provide personal or account information.
• Do not confirm or book an in-home appointment.
• Do not provide payment information.
• Contact GSU directly to confirm whether we are trying to reach you.

If GSU needs to contact you regarding your account or service, our representatives will clearly identify themselves and provide appropriate contact information.
When in doubt, hang up and call us directly using the contact information listed on your utility bill or our official website.

Please share this information with friends, family, neighbours, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to unsolicited calls or door-to-door visits.
