Jamie West NDP Jamie West is the MPP for Sudbury. Born and raised in Sudbury Ontario, Jamie West was first elected in 2018 to represent the riding of Sudbury at Queen’s Park.

He’s also the NDP Critic for Northern Infrastructure, Transportation and Roads. Jamie loves Sudbury and is a strong voice for the community. He is proud to call it home and is a proud graduate of both Cambrian College and Laurentian University. Jamie’s background includes working in the fields of mental health, construction, mining, and workplace safety. Jamie’s respect for workers and everyday-pe

ople goes beyond lip service. Jamie faced poverty growing up; and he knows the importance of government and community services in ensuring that everyone has an opportunity for success. Jamie is proud of his blue-collar, working-class roots. He is a fierce advocate for human rights, and is an eternal optimist who believes in fairness and helping others. Jamie West always wants the best for others and never stops working on the issues that matter most to Ontario families.

Né et élevé à Sudbury, Ontario, Jamie West a été élu pour la première fois en 2018 pour représenter la circonscription de Sudbury à Queen's Park. Il est également le porte-parole du PND pour l'Infrastructure du Nord, des Routes et des Transports. Jamie aime Sudbury et se fait un devoir de porter voix forte pour la communauté. Il est fier d'y habiter et d'être diplômé du Collège Cambrian en plus de l'Université Laurentienne. Jamie a travaillé dans les domaines de la santé mentale, de la construction, des mines et de la sécurité au travail. De par ses actions inlassables, Jamie ne cesse de manifester le plus grand respect qu'il a pour le travailleur et la main d'oeuvre en soi. Il se dépense corps et âme bien au-delà de paroles. Jamie a connu la pauvreté dans son enfance et connaît très bien l'importance des services gouvernementaux et communautaires qui sont nécessaires afin d' assurer une chance de réussite égale pour tout le monde. Jamie est fier de ses racines au niveau du col bleu et de la classe ouvrière. Il est un fervent défenseur des droits de l'homme et un éternel optimiste qui croit à l'équité et à l'aide aux autres. Jamie vise le bien optimal pour tous et travaille sans relâche sur les questions qui comptent le plus pour les familles ontariennes.

“Thank God we don’t have the media..”

Those were Ford’s words at yet another so called “press-conference” where no reporters were invited.

The role of the free press is to help keep the public informed, to hold politicians to account, and to ask questions about decisions that impact people’s lives.

This is an important part of a functioning democracy, and Ford just does away with it like it’s an inconvenience he’d rather not deal with.

Ontario has no shortage of Canadian retailers and local suppliers who could stock our classrooms. In the middle of a trade war, our public dollars should go back to them.

Instead, the Ford Government has made Staples, which is American owned and controlled, the exclusive vendor for the classroom supplies fund.

That means teachers don’t even have a choice. Every dollar of every elementary teachers $750 supply card flows right to a US-chain.

Glencore’s Craig Mine Onaping Depth project is absolutely fascinating.

In February, my team and I toured the development of this 2,600-metre-deep extension of a formally-dormant mine.

This week, we returned to celebrate the first production of nickel-copper ore. This $1.8 billion investment into Greater Sudbury merges the old with the new to create an all-electric, state-of-the-art mine that will support 400 new jobs and produce one million tonnes of ore per year!

Thousands of Northeners have taken action and demanded the completion of Highway 69.

Because of those voices and advocacy, we are one step closer to our goal!

The Minister told us that the last 68KMs of Highway 69 has been divided into six sections. Four of those sections will go to tender, have a construction company selected and shovels in the ground by end of 2027.

This is a welcome step in the right direction, but please continue to speak up as an announcement is not a completion date, a promise is not pavement.

So let’s keep working together for Northern Ontario and put the pressure on until the very final KM is four-laned.
