This week I had the pleasure to act as the reviewing officer for this year’s Annual Ceremonial Review, and got the chance to celebrate the Corps and the cadets.

The 134 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps has been a fixture in the community of Sudbury for 83 years, developing community leaders through experiences of a peer led program that is open to all youth.

My thanks to Captain Tammy Valtonen for the invitation and for sharing this amazing paddle with me, a reminder to “Make Waves”.

The people of Northern Ontario deserve: Four Lanes. Zero Excuses.

Outlined in our letter to the Minister of Transportation are the questions the people of Northern Ontario have about precise details and timelines for the completion of the Highway 69 four-laning.

While the responses from the Minister to our initial questions are appreciated, they do not provide the detailed information and updates that were requested.

People are tired of excuses, tired of the Government shifting the blame, tired of broken promises.

We are once again asking for answer. We are once again demanding action.

Care over profit! That was the key message from nurses and healthcare professionals at nursing homes across Ontario during their province wide info picket.

Workers and the patients they serve must be the priority, not profits for shareholders.

Without fair wages, benefits and safe working conditions our nursing homes will not be able to retain caring and hardworking staff. Without highly skilled nurses and health-care professionals, there is no care for residents.

Ford shut down the legislature until Oct 27th and now he’s trying to do the same to the committee responsible for vetting his Conservative appointees to influential public bodies.

So how does this impact you?

When people have disputes, they go to tribunals for hearings, things like the Landlord Tenant Board or the Land Appeal Tribunal. These appointed adjudicators need to be fair and non-partisan, but instead Ford is appointing Conservative donors to these jobs.

That’s why he’s now trying to shut down committee to stop opposition MPPs from challenging his appointees.

It's HOT today!

Heatwaves in Ontario are increasing, yet our schools and buses aren't equipped to handle it. That's why we have brought forward a Bill "Fighting Extreme Heat in Schools Act" to set maximum temperature standards, fix infrastructure gaps, and protect our students and education workers.

Your kids should have a safe place to learn! They should not be at risk of heat stroke on the bus or in their classroom.

📣 Tomorrow night there will be a public information centre on the four-laning of Highway 69!

Thank you to everyone who has been applying pressure to try to get this project moving!

We encourage anyone nearby or who is able to make the trip to attend. Whether you’re from the north, a business owner, or just someone who travels the corridor and cares about safety on our northern highways, this is a good chance to ask questions, provide feedback and get information.

There is also an opportunity to provide comment until June 18th for those unable to attend.

Over this last session Ford had a choice: help himself or help the people of Ontario.

He chose himself. Every. Single. Time.

From private jets, to hiding phone records, to scrapping freedom of information requests. All for himself.

All while Ontarians lost their osap grants, couldn’t afford groceries, waited hours in the ER, saw their kids struggle in overcrowded classrooms, and worked tirelessly just to pay their rent or mortgage.

Now he’s shutting down the legislature for almost five months so he doesn’t have to face the consequences.
