This one is for the prosciutto connoisseurs! 🇮🇹
Can you tell which one is Prosciutto di Parma and which is Prosciutto di San Daniele?
Both are authentic Italian DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) prosciuttos, made using just pork, sea salt, time, and the unique climate of their respective regions. No preservatives. No smoke. Just centuries of tradition. (Horefood)
So what makes Prosciutto di Parma special?
🥩 It can only be produced in the Parma region of Italy under strict DOP regulations.
👑 Every authentic leg is branded with the famous five-point Ducal Crown, guaranteeing its origin and quality. (Allrecipes)
Parma vs. San Daniele
• Parma is known for its delicate sweetness, buttery texture, and clean, mellow finish.
• San Daniele is typically a little richer and more complex, with a slightly deeper, nuttier flavour and a signature “guitar” shape created during the pressing process. (Wudy Kitchen)
And yes… Prosciutto di Parma costs us significantly more than San Daniele, thanks to its strict production rules, global reputation, and high demand. But when it comes to quality, you really can’t go wrong with either one.
Now it’s your turn…
Which is which? 👇🇮🇹
