GBF SILENT AUCTION
In support of our Housing Initiatives, GBF is hosting monthly Facebook silent auctions. Our Housing program assists Grimsby residents facing challenging circumstances with temporary assistance for the prevention of homelessness.
All Silent Auction Items are on display in our retail store front entrance, so come take a look and find some other goodies at the same time!
* Bids close on Friday, May 29th at NOON sharp (post will be updated, “CLOSED FOR BIDS”)
* Winners will be contacted via DM / Private Message to arrange for payment and pick-up.
* Payment options include PayPal, credit card, debit, cheque or cash.
* Bids must be made directly in the comments on the desired picture, under the ‘Place Bids Here’ comment. No bids made through the general comments, private/direct message or anywhere else count.
* Please note that your comment setting needs to be set to 'Newest' in comments, not 'Most Relevant' to see all the bids in order.
* Highest bid wins (first person to bid the highest amount).
* All proceeds go directly in support of GBF Housing Initiatives locally.
* Silent Auction items are not tax-receiptable.

Here is a little summary about the docuseries:

Directed, produced, and edited by Adrian Gentili, The GBF Initiative is a five-part documentary series exploring the Grimsby Benevolent Fund, its 60-year legacy, and the people, programs, and community efforts that transform generosity into lasting impact.

What began in a family home through the efforts of founder Mike Barretto has grown into a vital hub supporting the town of Grimsby, Ontario. Through the voices of staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and clients, the series traces the organization’s evolution beyond food security and housing support into a place where dignity and belonging are fostered through everyday connection. From music circle jams and coffee socials to games and shared moments, GBF offers more than assistance. It builds community.

At its core, GBF operates as a social enterprise, where a thriving thrift store helps fund essential programs. Behind the scenes, staff and volunteers work across the warehouse and food bank floor, while clients share firsthand how that support shapes their lives.

The series captures the true scale and spirit of GBF’s work. In the summer, a 60th anniversary celebration and fundraising campaign honour its legacy, as the Barretto family returns to give back. In the fall, volunteers unite for Thanksgiving hampers and the “Trick or Canning” food drive. During the holiday season, the organization delivers its largest initiative, the Christmas hamper program, bringing
support and joy to families across the community.

Together, these stories reveal an organization defined not only by what it can provide, but by the people who make it possible.
