The Town of Grimsby has been made aware of the Hamilton-based white nationalist group attempting to relocate its anti-immigration gathering to nearby municipalities.

The Town of Grimsby would like to stress our municipality is not the right place for this event. Our community is one of safety and belonging to all people. Our Town condemns any groups motivated by hate who attempt to disrupt these efforts in creating a welcoming environment for people of all faiths and backgrounds. Our Town has zero tolerance for those who would spread hatred and division within our community.

Town staff are staying vigilant in monitoring public spaces. We strongly encourage private businesses and facilities in our community to keep watch and not allow the promotion of hate-based events.

The scheduled work in the Balsam Lane Public Parking Lot will not proceed today due to a delay in receiving the required underground utility locates.
