Grcged GRCGED goes beyond providing resources and support for community members experiencing personal and academic crises and/or safety situations.

We develop a personal connection and create a space where individuals feel heard, believed and validated. GRCGED is a feminist group and community space dedicated to fighting oppression and promoting diversity through education, advocacy, activism, resource provision, skill-building, outreach and community-building on campus and in the region. When we intentionally create space where LGBTQIA+ individuals are valued, respected, and celebrated for exactly who they are, the positive impact ripples outward. It creates healthier communities, drives innovation, and literally saves lives.

🌈 Pride Month is a beautiful time to celebrate, but true allyship requires actionable inclusion—and one of the simplest, most impactful steps we can take is normalizing the practice of asking for and sharing pronouns. You can’t determine someone's gender identity just by looking at them, and making assumptions can lead to the painful experience of misgendering. When we proactively introduce ourselves with our pronouns and gently ask others for theirs, we strip away the stigma, take the burden off trans and non-binary individuals, and signal a clear green flag of safety and respect. This Pride Month, let's move beyond just waving the flag and actively build spaces where everyone is seen and celebrated for exactly who they are. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Research Participation Opportunity

Eligibility requirements:
Age 19 or older and able to provide informed consent
Identify as transmasculine
Live in Canada
Speak English
Currently are living with a transmasculine partner for at least a year

This project has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Board at UVic. Research participation is completely voluntary, and consent may be withdrawn at any time with no consequence or penalty. All identifying information will be anonymized as much as possible. Unfortunately, no monetary compensation will be provided.
