As the heat builds up, a reminder that all Wellington County Library branches are cooling and clean air centres for our communities.

Look for us on the ClimateSafe Cooling, Warming and Clean Air Spaces Map from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and come in to stay cool and hydrated, especially during an extreme heat event.

Let's stay safe this summer!

The ClimateSafe Map helps residents find publicly accessible spaces that can provide temporary relief during periods of extreme heat, extreme cold, wildfire smoke and poor air quality.

Staff pick! Heather recommends 'This Book Made Me Think of You' by Libby Page.:

"A beautiful story about books, loss and second chances. Six months after her husband’s passing, Tilly is surprised by a final act of love, twelve books picked just for her, one for each month of the next year. As each month passes, the books help inspire Tilly to grieve, heal, grow, and take chances. A raw, heart-warming story written for all the book lovers."

This Book Made Me Think of You — Page, Libby — "A woman receives an unexpected gift from the man she loved and lost--a year of books, one for every month--launching a reading-inspired journey to live, dream, and love again in this glimmering and heart-stopping novel. Twelve books. Twelve months....

Staff pick! Sandra recommends 'Zomromcom' by Olivia Dade:

"Zombies attack (again) and Edie’s neighbour turns out to be less of a dude and more of a sword wielding vampire who does NOT need saving. And wait, are the zombies speaking French? How can Edie resist breaking out into song, repeatedly, when she discovers Max’s real name is – wait for it – Gaston? (spoiler – she can’t!). So much fun, action, and romance and to add to the spice throw in some Fae, an oracle, and maybe a demon, I was singing along! SO much fun!"

Zomromcom — Dade, Olivia — "When Eden "Edie" Brandstrup attempts to save her sweet, seemingly harmless human neighbor from the first major zombie breach in two decades, she's stunned to be saved by him-and his ridiculously large sword-instead. As it turns out, he's actually a super-old, super-su...

Did you know you can return books to our exterior drop boxes anytime, day or night?

It’s an easy way to return those long-overdue items and give your library account a fresh start. Please return items like board games, tech, and other fragile materials that could be damaged in the drop box directly to the service desk, though.

A little story of library joy from our Rockwood Branch, where we have vintage Franklin and Arthur posters on display. 🐢

Recently, a visitor told us something that stopped us in our tracks: he mentioned he's friends with Franklin's original illustrator! On a previous visit, he'd taken photos of our posters to share with her. She's living with Alzheimer's, and seeing those familiar illustrations, knowing they're still hanging in a library, brought her real happiness.

That made us pretty happy too.
