Some of the best days are the simple ones. 💛

A plate of good food, music playing in the background, cake being passed around, familiar faces stopping for a chat — and plenty of laughs in between.

That was our GIL Annual Picnic. 🌿

There was no need for perfect poses or planned moments. The smiles, conversations and little moments of joy happened all on their own. And maybe that’s what community is really about — having a place where you can show up exactly as you are and know you belong.

At Guelph Independent Living, independence matters deeply to us, but so does connection. Because living independently should never mean living without friendship, laughter or people to share the day with.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this day feel like Guelph at its warmest. ❤️

Good food. Good music. Really good people.

Good food, live music, a little cake… and a whole lot of good company. 💛🌿

Our GIL Annual Picnic was one of those days that didn’t need anything fancy to feel special. Sharing a meal, listening to music, catching up with familiar faces, laughing around the tables — these are the moments that turn a gathering into a memory.

For us at Guelph Independent Living, community isn’t only about the support we provide. It’s about creating space for people to connect, participate, have fun and simply enjoy being together.

And yes… no proper picnic is complete without cake! 🎂😊

Some of the best team moments happen far away from a meeting room. 🌿☀️

Our Guelph Independent Living Annual Picnic gave us exactly what we needed — fresh air, plenty of laughs, good food, and time to simply enjoy each other’s company.

There was a little grilling, a lot of joking around, and absolutely no shortage of genuine smiles. 😄 These are the moments that remind us that the people beside us every day aren’t just colleagues. They’re the people we learn from, lean on, laugh with, and share a common purpose with.

And yes… apparently we have some pretty talented BBQ chefs on the GIL team too! 🍔😂

A lovely day with some truly good people. Because good people really do brighten the day. 💛

A day away from the routine, and a whole lot of good memories made. ☀️💙

Our Guelph Independent Living Annual Picnic was all about the simple things — sharing a meal, catching up, having a laugh, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time together without watching the clock.

Days like this remind us that GIL is about more than the work we do. It’s about the relationships we build, the friendships that grow along the way, and making sure everyone has a place where they feel welcome.

There were plenty of smiles, plenty of laughs, and most importantly, plenty of moments worth remembering. 😊

It meant a great deal to have Dominique O’Rourke join us and take the time to speak with the people who make Guelph Independent Living what it is.

For our team, moments like this aren’t simply about having a special guest in the room. They’re about knowing that the everyday work of supporting independence, accessibility, dignity and belonging is being seen and valued.

There were smiles, conversations and plenty of pride in the room — and it was one of those moments that reminded us why this work matters so much.
