Happy Friday! Today we wanted to honour Lauren Jamieson, who was recently recognized at a Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition event, where "Courage" was the theme of the evening.

Now a Senior Food Cupboard Assistant at the Grange Hill East Food Cupboard, Lauren began her journey with us 9 years ago. Her somewhat casual role changed rapidly after COVID lockdowns. Our food program entered a period of rapid growth, expanding from serving 35 to nearly 200 families monthly. Through this transition, we counted on Lauren for her thoughtfulness and advice.

Lauren offers compassionate, judgment-free support, builds trusted relationships with patrons and creates a welcoming space for volunteers. Her calm presence and kindness are a cornerstone for our Food Cupboard’s reputation for warmth and respect.

It’s not easy balancing volunteer work with a career and family commitments. Lauren consistently shows us how to do this with grace. Her actions reveal that courage lies in commitment, adaptability, and lifting others up.

Thank you Lauren, for all you do!

We 💚 seeing all our Toonie Tuesday basketball kids 🏀 out each week - it’s such a fun program to look forward to!
We are reminding all participants to sign in with their name, parent/guardian name, and phone number.
Double check that your child knows how to sign in properly, or come in to assist them. We want to keep the program safe and need this contact information on hand.
Please also remind them that running in and out of the school is not permitted, as it is too difficult to track those signed in vs those who are playing outside.

The steady courage to show up and care for others is powerful! We were thrilled to recognize Tara Tarzwell at the recent Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition's volunteer appreciation event celebrating the value of courage.

A dedicated volunteer with Grange since 2015, Tara has always created a warm, welcoming space for families at our preschool drop-in. As COVID lockdowns came and went, Tara showed true strength by stepping up as a Lead Volunteer and holding things together through uncertainty.

Since then, countless children have benefited from Tara’s thoughtfulness and creativity, experiencing the rhythm of the year through crafts, stories, and seasonal celebrations. Tara also supports fundraisers, hosts food drives, and, with her son Ethan, helps distribute bread each month through our COBS program.

Tara shows that courage lives in commitment, kindness, and consistently showing up. Thanks for all you do, Tara!
