100 Device Drive in June ๐Ÿ’ป

This June, every branch of the Guelph Public Library is accepting donated laptops and tablets on behalf of the Circular Computer Project. Our goal is to collect 100 devices that can be refurbished and redistributed through community partners to help improve digital access for individuals and families in need.

If you have an unused laptop or tablet at home, please consider donating it, and help spread the word to friends, family, and neighbours about this community device drive.

Sewing Machine Cleaning

Learn how to clean and maintain your sewing machine with one of our Stitch Mentors volunteers. In this class, you will learn the basics of taking your machine apart to clean and oil it, with some basic diagnostics and troubleshooting. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine for this class.

Tickets are $15 for Guelph Tool Library members, and $20 for non members. $30 benefactor tickets help provide free or discounted registration for someone facing financial barriers, and include a ticket for you! If you are facing financial barriers and require a discounted ticket, please reach out to the GTL via [email protected]. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Due to space limitations, a ticket is valid for one person and one machine only.

This class will not focus on repair of broken or seized machines, as that is best handled by a professional. The Guelph Tool Library cannot be held liable for the condition of your sewing machine and any potential damages it may incur during this class.

Membership prices go up July 1st, lock it in now and save for a whole year. Sign up or renew online or in person.

We will always aim to keep our membership price accessible, and this is our first price increase in 3 years. Membership fees only cover a portion of our operating costs each year, and with some recent increases, itโ€™s become necessary for us to charge more for our annual memberships. Doing so helps better equip us for covering our monthly operating costs while also helping support our other programs.

Regular memberships will increase to $80/years plus taxes and fees

Lend a Wing memberships will increase to $110 per year plus taxes and fees, and each one sold allows us to donate a membership to a community member facing financial barriers.

We will continue to offer discounts on renewal memberships processed within 30 days of expiry.

Late fees are increasing to $2 per item, per day. Per day blade fees are switching to a per-loan fee of $3. All other per use or per loan fees are subject to change.
