Welcoming Week is coming!

From September 10-19, communities across the world including Guelph and Wellington County will come together to celebrate connection, belonging, and inclusion.

This year's theme, Stories We Share: The Courage to Connect, highlights the ways we can all help create communities where everyone feels welcome and valued.

Getting ready to close your pool or hot tub for the season? Don’t forget the following:
💧 Water drained from your pool, spa or hot tub to the street or into a storm sewer does not get treated and flows directly into local ponds, streams and rivers. Chlorine, salt and other pool chemicals can impact the natural environment, including fish, frogs, birds and plants.
💧 Let your pool sit uncovered and untreated for two weeks to let the chlorine dissipate. Then, drain the water onto your lawn or garden. Saltwater pools must be drained into your laundry tub or another drain connected to the City’s sanitary sewer system.
💧 Pool chemicals can cause fires if they’re put in the blue or grey carts and harm the water supply if they go down the drain. Dispose of old or unused chemicals safely by dropping them off for free at the Waste Resource Innovation Centre. Rinse empty chemical containers well before disposing of them in the applicable blue or grey cart.

Starting September 8, Wyndham Street North construction will extend further north to Woolwich Street 🚧

During this phase of construction:
- Construction will extend from Carden Street to Woolwich Street (excluding the Macdonell Street intersection)
- Quebec Street and Douglas Street will become dead-end streets
- Douglas Street will operate as a two-way street
- On-street parking will not be permitted on Douglas Street

Businesses are still open throughout the Downtown 🛍️🥘

This work is part of the Downtown Infrastructure Renewal Program and includes replacing aging sewers and watermains to help ensure safe, reliable service for years to come.
