In the 30's the Jacquot brothers were here and helped to rebuild the old wooden bridge. In 1902 Sam McGee and Gilbert Skelly ran a Roadhouse here and build a wooden bridge to span Canyon Creek. It was so well designed that it is still standing, with very little maintenance in over a century. Army saw it the engineers adopted much of its design for bridge building with logs.
