Give us a chance.
If you're screening out a candidate with a disability because they "couldn't do the job", consider that the rest of that sentence is very often "as the job has traditionally been done." With a little imagination and some very reasonable accommodation, often the candidate in question can do the job just fine, as well or even better than other more "traditional" candidates.

We were so excited to present to members of Nova Scotia Power's executive and staff about ERIN: Emotional Regulation In Newcomers! This new, free program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Nova Scotia Power and is designed to support newcomers to Canada in building resilience and managing frustrations as they navigate life in a new country.

We're thrilled to be offering Canadian Red Cross first aid training in-house to clients as part of our employment preparation module! Our first group has completed their certification, and one client left us this very nice letter about her experience 😊

Newcomers to Canada face unique barriers and challenges that can be upsetting and frustrating. These barriers can feel even more insurmountable for newcomers with disabilities.

Seeing these barriers facing more and more of our clients, reachAbility has responded with ERIN: Emotional Regulation In Newcomers. This free program was designed by newcomers for newcomers to help them build resilience, confidence, and assemble resources as they build their new life in Canada.

We had a great visit last week with Atlantic Community Shelter Society's COO Tim McFarland, who met with our CEO Tova Sherman to look at ways we can collaborate to better serve our clients and ACSS's shelter residents. We're very excited to be continuing our work together to serve our community 😁
