The Children's Aid Society of Halifax Foundation was formed in 1997 as the fundraising arm of the Children's Aid Society of Halifax. In the fall of 2006, the services of the Children's Aid Society of Halifax were integrated with the Provincial Department of Community Services. In early 2007, the Children's Aid Society of Halifax Foundation changed its name to the Halifax Region Children's Aid Foun

dation as a way to reflect the broader geographic service area of the Foundation. The Foundation provides grants to community based groups located in Halifax to address unmet needs within communities that are not funded as part of mandated government services. The Foundation also makes grants available to children in care or formerly in care from other parts of the province when possible.
