There's an autumn breeze in the air, and the Citadel is feeling a little spooky... 🍂🕯️

Join a spirited tour of Halifax’s historic fort after dark and discover the haunted secrets and fascinating history of the Halifax Citadel. 👻Wander by candlelight along the fort’s ramparts, dungeons and dimly lit passageways in this one-of-a-kind experience.

There's an adventure for the whole family at the Halifax Citadel — open until November 5! Visit and pick up one of these ✨free✨ activities for kids:

🔎 Parks Canada Xplorers is back at the Citadel! Pick up a free booklet at the Information Centre, complete the challenges and receive a collectible reward. Ages 6 to 12.

🕵️ Citadel Adventures is a mystery game for ages 9 to 15. Pick up a free spy kit at the Information Centre. Use a comic book guide to read your secret orders, then search the Citadel and solve the clues to complete your spy mission!

Looking for a unique day trip?

Georges Island is open Thursday to Monday until September 7. Take a tunnel tour (free with admission!) and discover the underground complex beneath Fort Charlotte. This maze of brick tunnels once housed the ammunition for the fort’s powerful guns.

Georges Island will be open Saturday and Sunday until October 11.

Until September 7, the Government of Canada is offering free admission and a 25% discount on fees for camping and overnight stays.

Early in the Second World War, York Redoubt was the "nerve centre" for harbour defences, including an anti-submarine net which stretched across the harbour's entrance from the Redoubt to McNabs Island. York Redoubt remained in military use until 1956.

Today, you can wander among the 200-year-old fortifications while enjoying the panoramic views of Halifax Harbour and the open Atlantic.
