πŸ’› Help Us Shower a Newcomer Mom with Love & Support! πŸ’›

We are supporting an expecting mom who is new to Canada and preparing to welcome her baby at the end of November. She is without family, and we want to ensure she feels surrounded by community care during this special time.

We’re inviting our amazing community to come together and help us create a meaningful baby shower experience for her. You can support in any of the following ways:

🍼 Purchase an item from her baby registry: https://www.amazon.ca/baby-reg/family-b-november-2025-halifax/2XOL4KWY2K4E6?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_W092HTKBWGW5YJ8Z6280

🎁 Provide gift cards (can be dropped off in our mailbox at 5538 Macara Street)
Donate to the HRC through CanadaHelps: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/40805

Your kindness will help provide essential baby items and remind her that she is not alone and that she is welcomed, supported, and valued.

Thank you for helping us surround her with warmth, encouragement, and love as she prepares to meet her little one at the end of November. πŸ’›βœ¨

This Thursday October 2nd at 7PM at MSVU, please join us for a free panel discussion on Bill C-2: the "Strong Borders Act". This anti-refugee and anti-migrant bill proposes sweeping and unprecedented changes to the in-land asylum system in Canada, essentially barring certain people from accessing refugee protection and would expand government power over immigration, refugees, and surveillance.

Please share widely in your networks!!!

Listen to the HRC talk about the province's decision to cancel its immigration detention contract with CBSA!

The Province intends to sever its contract to provide jail space for the Canada Border Services Agency. This comes after a months-long lobby campaign by a coalition of groups opposed to using jails to hold immigrants. We hear from Julie Chamagne, who is part of that coalition and executive director....

Non-citizens, including non-status migrants and refugee claimants who come to NS seeking protection and safety will no longer be subject to these abusive conditions!
