The proposed amendment would add food service vehicles to the Temporary Commercial Uses category. Reminder: the last Missing Middle Housing pop-up is scheduled for May 13 from 2–5 p.m. at the Halifax Central Library.

Missing middle housing refers to homes that fall between single-unit dwellings and large apartment buildings, such as townhouses and small multi-unit buildings. These options can help provide more housing choices in established neighbourhoods.

The municipality is reviewing design requirements for new missing middle housing in low-rise residential areas of the Regional Centre. The project will focus on ensuring small apartment buildings are compatible with existing neighbourhoods.

We’re seeking public feedback to help shape these updates. Your input will help inform recommendations to Regional Council in 2026.

This public, interactive tool provides at-a-glance information on housing supply, development activity and permit trends across the municipality. Users can explore residential approvals and completions, affordable housing targets and how development aligns with population growth.

The dashboard also includes filters for all permit types and links to the Permit Status Map for users who prefer to view permit activity geographically.

The Cole Harbour Common field stormwater management project is looking at ways to improve drainage and reduce flooding around the soccer field, multiuse field & track area. The project team has extended the survey to close on May 15.

The playing surface of the soccer field at the Cole Harbour Common is due to be restored, the municipality is looking for feedback on stormwater management solutions.

Join the Suburban Plan team from the municipality's Planning & Development at Spryfield Legion (7 Sussex St.) on April 21 from 6-8 p.m. It’s free to attend and open to everyone, but we especially encourage those who live, work, own property or spend time on Herring Cove Road in Spryfield and the surrounding area to attend.
