The Canadian Progress Club Halifax Citadel Charitable Foundation (CPC Halifax Citadel) is a committed group of volunteer women totally focused on helping those in need in our community since 1988. The Halifax Citadel chapter is one of the most active and successful Progress Clubs in Canada. Our mandate is to support Women's & Children's charities locally, and Special Olympics Canada nationally.

Patty, Carrie-Lynn, Heather and Laura were proud to lend a hand in preparing for and supporting another successful CareFREE Giveaway at Divine Mercy Parish. 💙

More than 700 people visited the event and found clothing and household goods for themselves and their families. There were so many grateful families, smiling children, and meaningful conversations throughout the weekend. Several visitors shared personal stories of women who had recently fled abusive relationships and were able to find items to help them begin again. Those moments were a powerful reminder of the impact that community support can have.

After the event wrapped up on Sunday, remaining clothing was shared with Adsum House for women in need, with all other leftover items donated to The Salvation Army, ensuring everything continued to give back to the community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated items directly, as well as through our Sip & Swap event. Being able to help in such a tangible way and witness the overwhelming appreciation firsthand was incredibly meaningful. ❤️

Whether she's bringing fresh ideas to fundraising, volunteering for committees, or simply showing up with a smile and a willingness to help, Erika consistently gives her all. She has a remarkable ability to energize those around her, encourage others to get involved, and make every project just a little bit more fun.

Following the success of Girls Night Out, we were proud to present donations from our fundraising efforts to Hope Blooms and The North Grove! 🌟

Both Hope Blooms and The North Grove are creating stronger, more connected communities by addressing food insecurity while providing opportunities for people to learn, grow and thrive. Through food, education, skill-building and meaningful connections, they empower children, youth and families while fostering a sense of belonging and hope.

Last night, several of our members had the privilege of attending the Annual General Meeting of HomeBridge Youth Society.

We were honoured to be recognized for our support of the Expressions Program, made possible through funds raised at our 2025 Charity Golf Classic.

The Expressions Program uses the arts as a powerful tool to help youth build resilience, develop life skills, and find their voice. Through opportunities in visual art, music, and photography, participants are encouraged to explore their creativity in a safe, supportive environment free from judgment. For many young people, the program provides a meaningful outlet for self-expression, confidence-building, and personal growth.

We are proud to play a small part in supporting this impactful program. 💙

⛳️ Our 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic is coming up on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the beautiful River Oaks Golf Club in the Musquodoboit Valley!

This year, we're proud to support Family SOS, a local non-profit dedicated to building strong, healthy families and supporting children and youth in our community. 💙

Laura and Paula were proud to lend a hand yesterday at the Ronald McDonald House Maritimes Walk for Kids. ❤️💛

The Walk for Kids took place simultaneously in five cities across the region and raised more than $154,000 to support the vital work of Ronald McDonald House Maritimes.

In 2025 alone, Ronald McDonald House Maritimes supported 1,043 families, providing 9,011 overnight stays and helping families remain close to their seriously ill or injured children during critical moments of care. Their new location, situated directly across from the IWK Health Centre, helps reduce barriers and stress for families by keeping them close to their child and care team when every moment matters.

What a weekend! 🤩

Last weekend, we were honoured to host the Canadian Progress Club Eastern Region Convention at Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, welcoming more than 60 members from clubs across Atlantic Canada for a weekend of connection, learning, fellowship, and celebration.

Together, the six Eastern Region clubs have made an incredible impact over the past year, raising more than $500,000 for our communities and contributing over 4,600 volunteer hours in support of local charities.

Following our AGM and the installation of the new Eastern Region Board, members took part in an engaging educational session with KA Social Media Consulting, learning new strategies to expand our reach and amplify our impact. We also enjoyed a wonderful tasting experience from Still Fired Distilleries Inc before gathering for our annual awards dinner.

We were especially proud to celebrate two of our own: Heather, recipient of the Eastern Region New Member of the Year Award, and Jackie, recipient of the Eastern Region Progressian of the Year Award. Congratulations to both on these well-deserved honours!

A huge congratulations as well to Greater Moncton Women's Progress Club, recipients of the Club of the Year Award, a truly deserving recognition.

The evening wrapped up in true Progress style with our GLOW Party, providing plenty of dancing and fun.

We are proud to share that the winner of the $1,500 Grad Bursary for 2026 is Sienna Foley! 🎓

Sienna is an exceptionally motivated and accomplished grade 12 student at Dartmouth High School in Dartmouth, NS who is accepted to a Bachelor in Science program for Nursing at Acadia University (in partnership with CBU). She has consistently excelled academically, maintaining a Principal’s List standing and an average above 90% throughout high school. She has successfully completed numerous advanced and AP courses, demonstrating strong intellectual ability, discipline, and a remarkable work ethic while balancing a demanding schedule. In addition to her academic achievements, Sienna is an elite athlete in volleyball and lacrosse, and she effectively manages her time across academics, athletics, part-time work as a sales associate at GAP, and over 100 hours of active volunteering.

Her leadership is evident through the founding of the "Wellness Wednesdays" initiative at Dartmouth High, where she provides resources and support on mental health and wellbeing to her peers. Sienna is also an active member of student council, a lacrosse coach, and a dedicated volunteer at a nursing home, where she gained valuable life lessons in compassion, empathy, patience, and emotional support. These experiences inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. She has also contributed to initiatives such as “Sending Sunshine” and “Be Santa for a Senior,” spreading kindness to seniors through handmade cards and holiday gifts.

Sienna is deeply engaged with social and cultural issues, having helped organize the Cultivating Peace Conference and wellness events at the Youth Health Centre. Her principal describes her as diligent, proud, and well-prepared for the challenges of university. Her outstanding achievements, leadership, compassion, and commitment to community make her a highly deserving candidate for this bursary award.
