This May 1, a broad coalition hits the streets of Halifax/Kjipuktuk, Treaty Peoples: workers, students, organizers, Mi'kmaqi land defenders. A system ruled by profit will always sacrifice people. That's not a flaw. That's its engine.

From Haymarket to now: solidarity is our weapon. We refuse austerity. We refuse profiteering. We refuse exploitation. We refuse a system that puts profit over people—every time, by design.

Every workplace runs on our labour.
So why don’t we run the workplace?

Working conditions aren’t accidents—they reflect how power is organised on the job. Low wages, long hours, and unsafe conditions persist when workers are kept isolated and powerless.

From the earliest unions to the struggles that built the rights we still rely on today, every gain workers have made has come through collective organisation and confrontation.

This session looks at how that history was made—and how workers today can transform individual frustration into real power.

Because when workers come together, the balance of power doesn’t just shift—it can be taken.

Student? Worker? Organizer?

Most students will work this summer. The question is: will you simply take part in the workplace—or begin to learn how to transform it?

Every shift, every task, every product is made by workers. Yet the bosses dictate who profits, what’s produced, and how we work. That control should belong to the workers—not the bosses.

Workers haven’t always accepted this. From shop floor rebellions to historic movements that shook the powers above, one truth has been proven again and again: power grows where organizing happens, and workers unite.

“Summer at the factory” is your chance to step into the struggle—not just to earn a wage, but to see how workplaces are battlegrounds, and how we can take control of what we already make possible.
Organize. Build collective power. Take what is ours.
