Dozens of school snacks were donated to get the kids staying in the shelter off to a great start!

Leadership Beyond the Game

Change starts with courageous conversations, and the Carleton Ravens Football program is stepping up.

This season, Carleton Football is partnering with Interval House of Hamilton’s MentorAction program and Interval of Ottawa to deliver Canada CLEAR (Coaching Leadership, Equity and Respect), an evidence-based initiative that equips coaches to engage athletes in meaningful discussions about respect, healthy relationships, consent, mental health, equity, and positive leadership.
We’re also excited to welcome a group of student-athletes as MentorAction Ambassadors. Through specialized training, these emerging leaders will use their influence to promote healthy relationships, challenge harmful stereotypes, and help prevent gender-based violence both on campus and in their communities.

When coaches and athletes lead by example, sport becomes more than a game. It becomes a catalyst for positive change.

Thank you to the Carleton Football coaching staff and student-athletes for using your platform to create a culture of respect, accountability, and leadership.

Some events stay with you long after the last guest has left and our evening with the incomparable Margaret Atwood was certainly one of them.

From the moment the doors opened to the final words from the icon herself, it was a night filled with conversation, inspiration, laughter and a true sense of community.

Can you guess this year’s theme?

Every year, the Freedom & Hope Golf Tournament brings a new creative theme, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of heart.

But one thing never changes: the incredible group of women who come together to make a difference.

Year after year, these amazing ladies raise more than $20,000 to support our Legal Advocate Program at Jared’s Place — helping women and families navigate the legal system as they work toward safety, freedom and a new beginning.

We’re so grateful for their commitment, their generosity and their belief that change is something we build together.

Honouring Joan’s Legacy Through Action

We are incredibly grateful to the Kinesiology Graduate Student Association at McMaster University for their continued commitment to honouring the life and legacy of Joan Heimbecker.

Each year, the association hosts a charity hockey game in Joan’s memory. Joan was a former graduate student in Kinesiology at McMaster University who tragically lost her life to domestic violence.

Through this annual event, students come together to celebrate Joan’s life while turning her memory into meaningful action. A portion of the funds raised supports a scholarship in Joan’s name, with the remaining funds donated to organizations working to support women and children experiencing violence.

This year, we are honoured to receive an incredible $3,904.95 donation to Interval House of Hamilton.

Thank you to the Kinesiology Graduate Student Association, everyone who participated in the hockey game, and everyone who contributed to this year’s fundraising efforts — including through their GoFundMe campaign.

Your generosity helps ensure that Joan’s legacy continues to make a difference in the lives of women and children in our community.

Together, we can turn remembrance into action and help create a future free from violence.
