Due to the Civic Holiday on Monday August 3rd, waste collection will occur one day later this week.

Community Recycling Centres will be closed on Monday, August 3rd and will reopen on Tuesday, August 4th.

Confused why your bulk waste wasn’t collected? It might be because you didn’t schedule it!

You can put out a maximum of 4 bulk items for each scheduled pick-up.

Schedule a bulk waste pickup one week in advance, by using the my.hamilton.ca portal or by visiting hamilton.ca/bulk.

Make sure to follow all the rules to ensure that your bulk gets picked up! 😊

Our crews work every day to remove litter from downtown streets, sidewalks, and public spaces, using equipment like the Glutton to help keep the downtown clean.

You can help by putting litter in public space litter containers or keeping it with you until you find one. Small actions make a big difference.

The Orange Air Quality Warning has ended, and all City of Hamilton services have resumed normal operations.

If your waste wasn't collected on July 16 or 17, please set it out on your regular collection day this week. To help with the extra week's accumulation, the garbage limit for July 23 or 24 only has increased to 3 bags or containers (50 lb/23 kg maximum per bag).

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to protect the health and safety of residents and staff.

Struggling to deal with green bin smelliness, especially during this summer heat? Try these tips to reduce the smell and keep it clean:

➡️ Keep your green bin outside, and put it out for collection weekly so that it doesn’t sit for too long

➡️ Give it a quick rinse once a week to reduce odours

➡️ Make sure to line it with compostable liners or with newspaper to keep the waste from sticking to the bin
