Housing is a gender equity issue. And it’s a municipal issue.

Women and gender-diverse people face distinct barriers to safe, stable and affordable housing. For people experiencing gender-based violence, finding a safe place to live can be a matter of survival.

Municipal governments have an important role to play in shaping housing policy, supporting affordable housing development, planning communities and responding to homelessness.

This election, ask candidates:
• How will you support safe and affordable housing across the continuum, from shelter to permanent homes?
• What will you do to address homelessness and the shortage of affordable housing?
• How will you ensure housing solutions respond to the needs of women and families?

Housing decisions shape who gets to live safely in our city.

A big thank you to CH for visiting us this morning! You can watch the coverage on CHCH’s website.

Today, our incredible coworkers and volunteers are working hard to prepare hot Thanksgiving meals for hundreds of people in our community. 🦃🍂

If you don’t know where your dinner is coming from today, you’re welcome at the Good Shepherd Centre, 135 Mary Street, from 3–4:30 p.m.

No one should have to go without a warm meal this Thanksgiving.
