Qualifications:
• Graduation from an approved paramedic program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association.
• Registration with PMO
• BLS Certification.
• Demonstrated training and/or experience in IV Therapy and symptom relief medications.
• A valid Class IV driver's license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, or comparable.
• A current Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
The Employee is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner.
(a)​Provide emergency medical support to people who are injured or ill and transport them to Western Memorial Emergency, unless conditions warrant otherwise.
(b)​Based on sound knowledge, demonstrate rational problem solving abilities and excellent decision-making skills including, but not limited to, requesting back-up of higher trained personnel, if needed.
(c)​Perform duties in a calm, reassuring and efficient manner.
(d) ​Ensure complete and thorough documentation of patient care activities.
(e)​After each call, replace any supplies/equipment necessary to maintain the performance of his/her duties and advise administration if supplies/equipment is not available.
(f)​Maintain his/her certification by attending continuing education and refresher courses as required by the PMO office.
(g)​Be responsible for the appropriate cleaning/disinfecting of the ambulance.
(h)​Other related duties as may arise from time to time and as may be assigned.
