The HHS is dedicated to the preservation of the unique heritage of the town of Harriston & Minto Township (Ontario, Canada). Upper level Harriston library.

Established in 2010, we are an incorporated not-for-profit organization ensuring the responsibility for preserving and showcasing our past history for future generations to enjoy. Mission Statement:
The Harriston Historical Society, is a private group of caring & dedicated people, whose primary functions are to collect, preserve, conserve, interpret, and exhibit materials of historical

interests relating to the town of Harriston and Minto. Along with preserving local history, we will provide educational opportunities for the community to understand and experience the towns past through ongoing exhibits and displays. Meetings:

What a great time the Carry-On Women's Institute gals had today. The ladies visited all five rooms of the Historical Society and Arts gallery investigating each and every exhibit. Some completed the Nostalgic Questionnaire others will make a return trip as there's just too much to see properly in one trip.
Then that rowdy bunch of seniors went out for supper.
All this was for the first step in the rotating outings that are going to take place during August - with the highlight being coffee in the Zinnia patch on the 18th when we celebrate 88 years of a Palmerston W.I.

Last night (July 28th) we had a successful Open House to showcase our latest summer exhibits in the gallery. (15 different displays and that's just in the gallery - there's also the hall and the John Webb historical room). Several started the Nostalgia Questionnaire knowing they'll have to return to complete it (and that's a plus). It's a fun game, and the more one scrutinizes an exhibit the more you see in it - and the answer to the questionnaire pops right up.

Have you been there yet?
Please check before you make a long distance trip because sometimes it's hard to get volunteers for staffing and there might be a lull on some open days.

Summer display now showing in the Minto Arts Gallery.
Pick up a Questionnaire and complete it in one visit or return to complete it before August 22nd. Draw to be made from correct completed entries.
