🚨Today (May 17th) there is a provincial wide burn ban in effect. Meaning no burning is permitted. Burn ban restrictions are issued when ground and vegetation conditions are too dry, permitting high risk for wildfires.

Wildfire prevention starts close to home.

Keeping grass cut around your home, garage, sheds, and other buildings is a simple way to help reduce wildfire risk. Tall, dry grass creates extra fuel that can feed wildfires, allowing fire to spread quick.

Around your property, keep these FireSmart tips in mind:

• Keep grass mowed short around your home and outbuildings
• Remove trimmed grass and clippings at least 1.5 meters away from structures
• Create a clear trimmed area between structures and wooded areas
• Avoid mowing during extremely hot, dry, and windy conditions
• Consider using yard sprinklers during dry weather conditions
