Good evening everyone our weekly training session this week was focused on setting up our porta tank along with discussing what should be happening as we arrive on a scene. Members took turns connecting our hard suction hoses to the pumper and placing the porta tank in what was deemed a appropriate location for our mock scene.

Good morning!!!

We have been working on making the primary water source in the Western part of our district more accessible and safer for our members to draft water from. Having this project done means that we can safely park off of the road and not be put in harms way. This makes our team safer and more efficient in getting to the residents in our district to help them in their emergencies.

We had temporary driveway markers in place until more permanent poles and signage could be installed. Last night, some one helped themselves to several of our driveway markers. We are asking that people share this in an attempt to inform the individual that we would in-fact like those back.

We also understand that whoever it was more than likely didn’t know that they were stealing property of the Havre Boucher Fire Department, and not the Department of Highways. If you could be so kind as to drop them back off so we can reinstall them.

Another night of driver training this past Monday evening. This week's configuration was a little more of a challenge for our members as this week they had to drive straight thru the cones. They then had back up into a designated spot and proceed to make the 90 degree right turn to proceed out of the course while staying between the cones. A job well done by everyone who participated. As a small department it's important for us to have as many members as possible who qualified to drive our pumper and comfortable doing so.

Good afternoon everyone the Antigonish Area Fire & Rescue Training Centre will be setup in 2 spots at this year's Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition being held September 2nd to 6th. They have reached out to us in hopes of recruiting some more volunteers to help out. They're looking for people for food sales as well as ticket sales. I will attach the sign up sheet link below. Good evening!!!

Today we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the Antigonish County Recreation - Movin N’ Groovin Summer Camp during their stay at the Havre Boucher Community Centre .

29 children aged 4-12 spent a couple of hours talking with Firefighters and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police all about what to do in the event of an emergency, learning how to keep themselves safe and best help first responders.

After our discussions, the kids were excited to head outside and spray water from a real fire hose, take a tour of the fire trucks and the RCMP cruiser.

While the kids were playing, we fired up the bbq and got to cooking.

At the end of the day before heading home from the camp, the children were handed two very important pieces of paper for them to work through with their guardians. They are attached to the photos, and we fully encourage others to download them, print them, and most importantly to spend the time with their children filling them out.

We would like to thank Constable Pelly from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia - Antigonish Detachment for taking the time to stop by to talk with the children.

Thank you to James and his team at Atlantic Superstore Antigonish for the very generous donation of all food, drinks and snacks. Everyone went away with a full belly.

And thank you to Municipality of the County of Antigonish - Antigonish County Recreation for inviting us to be a part of such a special group of future Firefighters.

Our weekly training session was focused on some driver training with our pumper this week. This was a great opportunity for some members who haven't had much time driving the pumper or haven't drove it at all before a chance to get a feel for it in a controlled environment. Last night we started with the basics driving ahead into our gravel parking lot and then backing up between the cones.
