HFD was dispatched at 16:11 to a combine fire Northwest of Herbert. The combine operator was notified by another operator of a large fire in the fuel tank area. The operator was safely able to exit the combine despite it quickly becoming engulfed in flames.
The land owners disced a perimeter to prevent spread.
Fire suppresion agents were used to combat the fuel and tires burning. Appreciation is extended to the property owners work in stopping the spread and to our 5 responding members for their work in extinguishment.

Congratulations to Herbert Fire Deputy Chief, Brendan Stubbins . Today, Brendan received the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal at Government House in Regina. The medal honours exemplary long service and excellence in protective services.
Brendan started with Herbert Fire 27 years ago in 1999. Starting in 2007 he was one of the original members on Herbert's EMR Team. In 2011, Brendan was promoted to the deputy chief position. To achieve this medal means hard work, sacrifice and perserverance. Again, Congratulations Brendan, Well Deserved.

It's test your smoke alarm day. Smoke Alarms belong on every level of of your home and inside each bedroom, test them monthly, change batteries regularily and replace them when they are 10 years old.

At 8:09, HFD was dispatched to a structure fire in Herbert. 10 members responded. The fire was contained to the area of origin but did run up the wall to the second story along the chimney chase. Thank you to our members for the quick response in knocking out the fire and overhaul work. Thank you to the RCMP, SaskPower and Sask Energy and our dispatchers. To the neighbours, thank you for your genuine concern and help. It is very much appreciated.

This evening, the HFD conducted a live burn demonstration utilizing a purpose-built model structure. We extend our gratitude to Aidan Alty for his invaluable contribution in constructing this model. The demonstration significantly advanced our firefighters' understanding of fire behavior, fire dynamics, fuel loading, ventilation and how they all work together. During the exercise, we successfully observed and manipulated conditions to generate both a smoke explosion and a controlled backdraft. This event provided numerous valuable learning opportunities. Thank you to Mikeys Groceries for providing doughnuts. We express our sincere appreciation to the ten members who attended, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the HFD's mission of community protection.

HFD would like thank the community for coming out and supporting our after parade rodeo weekend BBQ. Your support means so much to us. We served about 370. Thanks to Southland Colony and Prosperity Credit Union for your donations, Justin and Brittany for lending us the cooling tent. Special Thank You to our members for your hard work on a hot busy long weekend.

A big thank you to Cam Hutchinson (Hutch Ambulance) for their donation of $500 to our EMR/first reponder team. Our EMR team is 100% volunteer and over the last 5 years responded to just shy of 350 calls. Thanks for the help and thank you to the awesome EMS staff we work alongside.

At 11:17, the HFD responded to a hay field fire located northwest of Herbert. Nine members responded to the incident, which was started by haying equipment that burned approximately 40 acres. Appreciation is extended to Jordan Miller and Darrell Unger for their assistance with water hauling and to Klassens for supplying water from their farm. Thank you to everyone that helped out.

Thank you to Pioneer Co-op for the donation of $794 from your 90th Anniversary celebration at the Herbert location to our EMR/First Responder team. It is very much appreciated.

What an incredible turnout! Our 11th 90th Anniversary BBQ was a huge success, thanks to the wonderful people in Herbert!

With nearly 160 people joining us, we raised $794 for the Herbert First Responders. Thank you to everyone!
